Alrighty. I'm looking at optic ideas but haven't really even settled or made the decision to mount an optic on this gun.

Here's my situation. Before folks ask, this is a gun that will be used for range practice (trigger / fun time) and kept in the corner as my "house gun". It currently wears a 14.5" bbl, has a standard FSB, LMT BUIS (keeping life simple) and is fitted with a KAC RAS II.

I am looking to possible mount a reflex optic on the raised portion of the rail. By doing this will it make it to far forward for a small reflex or is it still a workable situation. I've seen other optics mounted in this location but just not sure about the smaller reflex.

Attached is the upper for reference.

Re: Reflex sight mount advice on my AR

I have my eotech mounted right where the receiver meets the barrel and it works great (which is pretty close to where you're at). I think you will be fine. I mean, a buddy of mine has one of the fast fire's mounted on a front rail on his AK, which is further forward than what you are wanting to do and it works great. Hope this helps!

I like EOTech and Aimpoints for Red Dot Sights. Vortex has a great budget Red Dot Sight line (Strikefire & SPARC).

A good budget reflex sight is the Burris Fastfire. A high end reflex sight is the Leupold Delta Point Reflex. A lot of nice features on the Delta point:

Thanks guys. I'll take a closer look at the offerings mentioned. see what makes the most sense............ I hadn't set a budget but I suppose I should now. The FastFire and Delta Point are kind of what I'm looking for but the SPARC might just be a good alt.
