I’m a registered firearms repairer in Western Australia
I spent 14 years residing in the United States as a lawful permanent resident
My only regret was not taking the gunsmith course path in the United States, however here in Australia, recognition of prior learning and background in machine shop and associated trades with several knowledge test gives you the ability to apply and receive accreditation
The problem we have here is obtaining accurate and lawful intellectual information as it is termed in relation to Firearm specifications design and modification
The misconception about Australia is that we cannot have firearms
This is somewhat true, yes, however, the processes in place to obtain a license are stringent and much too popular disbelief. We do have the ability to possess categorised firearms, although in Western Australia recently to possess anything above 338 Lap became legislatively unlawful
What I am looking for is a reliable and trustworthy like-minded Gun Smith, who is prepared to lawfully communicate diagrams and technical information which you have at your disposal in the United States easier than we can obtain it through our small network of major import distributors here in Australia
I myself currently shoot Sabatti Precision firearms yet have also savage Ruger, Howa, browning and Rimington long rifles of varying caliber
I am a former Australian defence force veteran, semi retired due to my exposure to nasty things in the 1980s and 1990s throughout my service
I don’t wish to get into debates nor do I have a political agenda, and I do hold patriotism towards the United States close to my heart as I was there through 911 and my children and most trusted friends still reside throughout the United States
I’m not a paid member of this forum, yet I look forward to making the acquaintance of like-minded individuals who can assist me
I am happy to provide credentials and will not engage in any unlawful activities, nor will I engage in activities within this forum, which would be detrimental to its existence
Cheers
Andrew
