Reloading ban

Obama is pushing a treaty that could ban reloading by anyone without a federal license and other realy scary crap. May I suggest a trip over to www.gunowners.org to read the whole thing,and then use their legislative action pre written letter to contact your senators.

As I posted in the other thread - Obama can sign any treaty his little liberal heart desires. The US Senate has to ratify same before it has any force of law.

That just isn't going to happen.

Oh, they can do it.

If this is enacted, it can be given to a federal agency, where it becomes a driving mandate for the agency. For example, SAFETEA-LU provides a legislative mandate for the Dept of Transportation (DoT), and the Marshall Plan provides a mandate to the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This way, congress can write into statutes what constitutes prohibited weapons and activities.

The question is, does the current administration have the political clout to enact this?

I'm saying what would they do? Would they do door to door searches? I'm betting people would be less than receptive to that including me as in it's not gonna happen. Enacting it is one thing but enforcing it is something entirely different.

I paid $0 for mine, it was a gift from my dad, he picked it up for $10 at a yard sale, cash.

FWIW, presses aren't hard to make, in comparison to building a custom action, they're dirt simple.

Thank you for expressing your views with me regarding recent proposals to increase federal gun control measures. It's good to hear from you on this important topic.

Many folks have been contacting me with their concerns about various pieces of legislation that would hamper an individual's right to keep and bear arms. I have trouble with and oppose legislation that would affect people's Second Amendment rights.

I sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder in regards to his comments suggesting the reinstatement of the ban on assault weapons. I told him I oppose this ban, and called for the Department of Justice to enforce existing laws before we consider imposing any new restrictions on gun ownership. I cannot support legislation that will infringe upon the rights of individual gun owners. Regular, law-abiding Montanans who purchase firearms should not be unduly burdened with regulations or have their privacy infringed upon. For example, retaining a background check record for 90 days will eliminate this privacy. If a person clears a background check to buy a gun, there is no reason to retain that record.

In the past, I have supported common sense efforts to curb violence when those efforts have not infringed upon the rights of the American people to keep and bear arms. Some of the proposals that I've supported include putting more police on the streets through the "COPS" program, and increasing funding for after-school programs and youth counseling. We must be careful that efforts to prevent crime do not infringe upon the constitutional rights of sportsmen and women, and other law-abiding gun owners to purchase and use firearms. We value our outdoor heritage, and a large part of that is our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Passing this heritage down from one generation to the next is a sacred part of being a Montanan, and something that we will always fight to protect.

More likely it would mean that you won't be able to buy reloading equipment or components without a federal license. Once your current supply is gone - your screwed.

Just a backdoor approach to gun control - If you can't ban 'em, neutralize 'em.

Keep in mind, my email is sitting in an inbox in Cal, not Montana. Not much of a life expectancy for sure.

Good show. I wish I lived in Montana. I know folks there cringe when someone from Cal says that, but, I'm not your typical Cal guy. I'm about as old school Constitutionalist (especially the D of I) as you're going to find.
I'm sure many of you know Montana among other states recently passed a resolution to SUCCEED if the Fed govt oversteps the Constitution.
Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

Thanks for the info. This is something that needs following. To talk with our like minded friends and others to raise awareness. That will not be enough sad to say. We can not depend on others in higher positions like our congressman to know about it.

From what I found out this piece of .... is in some place it may not even come to the floor for a vote. But if it did then all of a sudden there it is and most who will vote on it known little about it.

So, even congressman may know nothing of it and those outside congress in high places who we expect to know about these things will no doubt know nothing as well.

If this is to be fought I have to take up the fight. By calling or writing my congressman, letters to the local editor to raise awareness locally.
