Reloading storage cases for 338 LM

Just started reloading for my 338 LM. After my problem finding plastic cases for my 7mm short mag, thought I better check here. Who makes plastic ammo boxes for the 338? I'll be loading the 300gr Bergers and I would like to store them tip up. I prefer 50rd boxes but will take whatever's available.

I bought mine at Sinclair, holds 50rd.

MTM 50 Rd Ammo Box for 338 Lapua. It's the only one they sell for that caliber. Comes in a light blue or green.

how tight do the mtm boxes hold? I a would like to get some "more secure" boxes for my competition rounds. I have also looked at the ammo burrito but at $50 they aren't cheap. Not that I mind spending money on good quality ammo carriers.....

MTM is a quality box. Not sure what you mean by "more secure" but I don't feel insecure carrying my ammo around in MTM's. If you want to roll large with a burrito go for it.

It's the MTM H-50-XL model.

Do not buy the boxes from Midway USA that say you can load 338LM bullet up or down...I bought three of those boxes and you can only load them bullet down, which I do not like.

I use the MTM RF22-LM in smoke color for .338 Lapua Mag. It holds 22 rounds bullet up or down. Here is link to MTM chart http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/images/2010-Rifle-Ammo-Chart_7-10.pdf to determine what ammo box to get.

I buy the MTM magnum boxes that hold 100 Lapua 338LM rounds. I wish it would hold them in butt down, but they are nose down, although some webbing is kind of holding the bullet from touching the bottom plastic. I'd rather not have to set the box down tenderly worrying about whether my bullets are being set back a bit if I drop the case from a couple inches.

Mark, I was mainly going for something that will hold them secure enough to keep them from "rattling" if that makes sense. I am not trying to be a gun snob by any means. I was mainly asking because sometimes they might see a bit of rough handling with everything being moved around a lot during a weekend.

MTM makes a foam insert that goes on the top of the lid to keep them from rattling. I got them in all my MTM boxes.

That's a great idea... I think I'll add a DIY foam option to my MTM cases.

Checking the MTM list, they show the H-50-XL as being able to hold .338LM up or down, so not sure it's a Midway issue?

Can someone verify if this will hold bullet up?

I have 6 and none of the ones I have can take a 338LM tip up. On top of that every one of the ones I have also came with at least one or more of the small rubber "x" things at the bottom broken or missing so that the rounds in those cells actually would hit the bottom of the box rather than be cushioned on the little rubber "x".
