I just bought a 300 win mag axmc and need ammo for it. I’m thinking I’d better hand load so I can get the most accuracy out of it but I’m not sure where to start. I just want to load 300 win and 6.5 cm for precision. I’m thinking a single stage press is fine. Realistically how much would I have to spend to get a decent setup in this day and age. i have 2500 bucks to spend on 300 win ammo/supplies. Would I be better off buying factory or jumping in and hand loading?

Honestly, while there are money to save on the larger calibers on reloading; in general once one start down the reloading rabbit hole one can end up spending a lot of money on gear and stuff...
If you stick to a Lee single stage press, hand wash and air dry brass and trim using the lee trim gear you can get the cost down on your loading gear and get good results; however if your volume goes up the washing and trimming will start to be a pain and one will look for better way of dealing with those steps imho.

$2500 will get you 1K+ rounds of match 300 winmag at current prices. How much are you going to shoot?
Also add in, if you end up on using factory ammunition in the start now; save all the brass! Suddenly you cross the line into reloading and that will save you a good deal on the starting cost with having a bunch of brass.
Thanks guys. My goal really isn’t saving money reloading its squeezing as much accuracy as possible and getting low standard deviations. I plan on shooting out to a mile once or twice a month. I’d be happy if I could spend 12-1300 on reloading equipment and another 1200 on bullets/brass/powder etc. Could one get a decent reloading setup for 1200 bucks?

I started my reloading on a lee handpress and worked my way up gradually.
get a solid but ok priced single stage press; Lee have some good but there are other out there also. Get some trimmer gear, frankford arsenal is good but can cut cost with using the Lee trimmers that also works.
For cleaning also frankford arsenal have good priced both dry and wet tumblers. Drying buy a vegetable dehydrater and use that.
Find the powder measure and dispenser unit that also fits your budget.
Die’s: get the brand you want and that is in your budget.
components are a running cost; powder, brass, bullets and primers will depend on your consumption.
get also good measuring equipment as calipers and a good weight to check your powder loads.

Alright guys I jumped in. I think I have almost everything now. I bought the hornady lock n load kit classic kit, Frankfort platinum case prep machine, digital caliper, comparator gauges, head space gauges, OAL gauge, hornady match dies with bushings, hornady sonic cleaner, Redding case neck concentricity gauge and a salt bath annealer kit.
That is a great start! One thing about 300 win mag I found is that after its fireformed to your gun just neck size...otherwise just above the belt gets worked alot and after one comes apart you will know...the nice thing though is that the factory rounds leave alot on the table in 300wm...for me I got alot more performance from reloads.

I'd also recommend a different hand primer and powder charger or different scale...Hornady is good until you get to the priming and scales, and trickler...the powder measure is ok but in 300 win its mostly all extruded powder and the handle sticks and throws different weights and then you have to use another method anyway so I recommend the Chargemaster Lite which is on Sale now anyways.
And one other thing is a trimmer...federal and winchester brass is longish and will need trimmed...hornady was short.
I bought that Frankfort case prep machine that cuts brass. I am going to be reloading federal brass so that’s good to know.
