Gunsmithing Rem 600 Mowhawk remage?

Pretty sure I have a take off, just wasn’t sure if anything had been done by the smith to make it work on the 600. So we’re thinking it’s good to go?
I’ll defer to the 600 compatability to others but I’ll address the take off barrel fitting: you’re going to have to install it and verify that it fits properly with a go gauge.
Just because an old barrel screws in doesn’t mean it screws in to the proper location. It could not screw in far enough and require the shoulder to be cut back, could screw in too deep and require the chamber to be recut, could be perfect. Perfect is the least likely of the three possibilities but possible. You could possibly also use a different thickness recoil lug to make up some difference instead of cutting the shoulder.

Agreed^^^ you'll always want to check headspace and 700 barrels have to have the shoulder turned in a lathe to set headspace.

But if your going to go with a Remage barrel, then you can set headspace yourself. The stock may need to be clearanced to allow room for the remage barrel nut.

A recoil lug of different thicknesses can also help get you close to your desired headspace. But it will still need to have the shoulder turned down a bit most likely. I like the 700 recoil lug better than the old 600 Mohawk "humped" lug.

With you guys on the take off not fitting within go/nogo tolerances. I’m speaking strictly of going to a remage setup on a 600 action. From what I’m seeing, it should work just fine. Sure do appreciate all the good advice! Thank you all!
