A friend of mine is looking at getting into longer range shooting a step or two at a time. I recommended a Rem 700 5r in .308 to him as a good starting point.
I remember running across a gunsmith that had an accurizing package that they would do on a stock 700 5R at a reasonable cost. The operations if I remember right were:
- set shoulder back to get a chamber throated for LR bullets
- recrowned
- maybe bedded
I think you could send in your 5R or they would sell you one as a part of the package. Either way the price seemed to be good and it seemed a good place to be between a full custom and a factory stick.
Does this ring any bells for you guys, if you know who does this can you let me know.
Thanks
