Re: Rem 700 5R source?
Buds is free shipping but costs $1061. With Scott at sniper country it's $1037 and $19 shipping, and customer service that's great. I had a 24" with a cpl blemishes, and sent it back, and since I'm going to be hunting I wanted a 20" (which I'm loving)He shipped the 20" before he had even received the 24" back! The day I shipped it back I sent him a tracking #, and he went ahead and sent the rifle. He has AMAZING! Fast Shipping, and in 2 days I had my 20", 1 day before my Midway and Brownells orders arrived. If you order the gun tomorrow, I'd say you will have the gun by Wed. if he has it in stock. If not it takes him 2 days to get one from his distributor. The only thing I've noticed in the 20 & 24" is the 20" says on the barrel "5R Rifling", the 24" brrl wasn't marked at all just .308 Win. I just shot with a guy who ordered the 24", had it cut to 20" then 18", and the thing shoots lights out. I guess what John from Noveske told me was right. The shorter the barrel the stiffer, and perhaps making it more accurate. ?? I dunno, all I know is, I lost about 100fps, but I'm not someone who loads for speed, and very rarely gets past 600yds. I'm sure the 24" would be better for reaching 1K but my 243 does it no problem.
