First I would like to apologize of posting another aac-sd and set up post. I could just not post it but I read so many different posts and still cant decide on my set up. I recently bought a Remington 700 aac-sd because I believe that for under 800$ after tax it is pretty hard to beat as far as quality, out of box accuracy, aftermarket parts availability and it came with a half break and half flash hider that also works as a quick detach for my future can.
My problem is that I am running on a limited budget, I have saved money all this year to get back into shooting. I've shot for 5 years then quit for 7, I was really good at it but I had to move due to my studies and didnt get back to it until now. Since I have been away from this great activity for so long I lost most of my knowledge as far as parts, brands, etc. Well I wont keep telling you the story and will get straight to the point.
Stock: I've been looking at bell&carlson, HS-Presicion, Mcmillan, Manners, AICS, XLRs, etc. I find myself attracted to the AICS 1.5 and XLR. I have been considering purchasing them and taking the big hit there because aparently you dont have to bed them (120$ at gunsmith), it comes with a detach magazine kit(300$ for a good one online), and well they look awesome. I want an opinion on that, do you guys think a aics is worth the money, does it perform better than others, would it be a smart purchase?
Optics: I've spent most of my day today looking at scopes, leupolds, millets, burris, nightforce, etc. My budget for a scope would be around 700 dollars +- 50. Would that be enough for a solid scope that I would be able to keep for years and will be accurate up to 6-800 yards?
My purpose is to build a solid shooting rifle to get back into shooting and have good enough equipment to last me for the next couple of years before I can upgrade again. I want good, reliable, accurate parts. I'd rather spend some money and get something that fits the above than getting on the cheaper side and looking for some upgrade within the next couple of months. I really want to make some smart decisions, but feel like I need help from persons with more experience in the field. Getting back into this is like a dream come true to me and I will be spending a lot of time and effort into getting better at it and want my equipment to be able to take me to a decent place before having to upgrade again.
