The AI chasssis is a good platform . I know a guy at my range that has a Rem 700 barrel and action in an AI chassis in 300 WinM and it shoots very nice from the bi-pod.
I can't afford such fancy gear but I wish I could.
You should have a good setup with that combination.
I have just about the same rifle in my safe except for the scope and base and mine isn't threaded. I have a Weaver 20moa base(not a fan of it) and Vortex Viper on mine. I also put a flat blade Timney in it which is way nicer than the Xmark. I shot a match yesterday with it and with basically a machine gun load it did pretty well. I would like to thread mine so I can put my can on it. The 200 yard targets I can't see where they go if they didn't hit right now. It shoots pretty good but it still is going to get a new barrel soon. I think you'll like it. I slao thought I would be the only AX chassis there yesterday but there were 2 more in my sqaud so that should say something about how nice they are.
What color ax did you end up with ? I was going to get the black but ended up getting the dark earth from Euro optic.
Alex there is great to deal with. How do you like the Vortex scope ? Heard nothing but good things about the vortex.
Just did a similar build myself:
Remington 700 SPS AAC-SD 308
AICS stock in green
Ken Farrell 1 Piece Long Range Base 20 MOA
Leupold Mark IV Rings
Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 3.5-10X40MM TMR
PWS Precision Rifle Comp
These chassis systems are amazing, just built a 6.5x47 for my cuz in a aics, factory pss action, kreiger barrel, mark 4 scope. so much more sturdy when shooting off a bipod compared to a fiberglass stock..
