Rem 700 feed problems in KRG Bravo

Hey group, just finished a 6.5 creed build on a brand new remington 700 action. It’s bedded in a KRG Bravo chassis. I’m using Magpul 5 rd mags with Hornady ELDX rounds. I’m having some feeding issues out of these with this set up and was wondering if anyone else has had similar issues. When ejecting the first two or three rounds they will hang up in the ejection port and the next round will be “nose down” and won’t load properly. Should I try a different brand mag? This happens with both magpuls I have. I’m using these same mags for my custom 300 WSM with no feed issues what so ever. Thanks

I cant help you with the problem you are having but I will tell you that magpul mags and many actions don’t mix well. Any upwards or lateral pressure on the mag will bind the bolt on a Remington action. You can not file enough plastic off the feedlips to fix this. Sale the pmags and pick up a few accurate mags.

Is the 300 WSM in a bravo stock as well?
Before you sell the PMAGs, check to see how loose they are in the magwell. I recently went through a similar feeding issue when assembling my 2nd T3x/Bravo rig but with MDT mags. The next round would not be picked up by the bolt or would nose down, further pushing the mag out of the well. It was solved by moving the trigger guard forward ~1/8" to tighten up the magwell. The manual also indicates that you can move the forend back a smidge, but a smidge is a generous description.

That is not true. Enough material can easily be removed. The wear from the fluting on my bolt opened mine up ever so slightly to the point that it longer drags with pressure on the mag. The long action non-mag magazine I have, has no binding problems with pressure on the mag.

My 300 WSM is actually in a magpul hunter but I’m dropping it a McMillan A3-5 with M5 metal

Completely true. It wasn’t even close with mine or my fathers rem 700. The bolt face hit the bottom of the feedlips. There would literally be no plastic left to hold in the cartridges. With the mag hanging freely they worked great. I am not the first to report this as there has been several threads already. They could be filed to work correctly with my axiom.

Accurate mags required nothing to work correctly. Magpul makes good ar mags and aluminum m-lok stuff. Not much else. They feed smoothly with the few actions that they work correctly with.

After having this discussion with someone else on here. And testing the one I had to see it did clear. I grabbed a brand new out of the cabinet. I forced the mag up into the mag well, then I ran the handle up and down and let the bolt fluting remove material. It went from binding with pressure on the mag, to no problems across, 5 manner mini chassis, 2 pillar bedded manners stocks{PTG metal}, and a pillar bedded greyboe{mesa bottom metal}. I did this to a brand new mag, because the one I was using had already worn in and cleared with pressure on the mag without me ever noticing the clearance issue. I had run about 1400 rounds of 22-250 about the same in 6.5 creed and about 400 243AI through that one. If you have an AW mag cut action it is not going to work, there is nothing to stop the mags from going too high up in the action. I would like to see one of these mags that can't be made to work. You have to get pretty high up on the bolt nose before its wider than the case.

Here is a picture of one with the offending material removed. I don't have anything against accurate or AI mags. I have a cabinet full of them. Things are rarely completely true or untrue with aftermarket part fitment.

Pmag 7.62AC works GREAT for me feeding 6BR and 6.5 Creedmoor in a Nucleus/KRG Bravo combo, also feeding 6BR/Dasher into a 700SA in a BC Medalist with PTG M5 DBM.

Does it work for everyone? Apparently not. But I'd be more than happy to take a short video of flawless feeding and bolt cycling after about 30 seconds with a dremmel on my setup. I personally like the size of MDT 10 rd mags due to their stacking and run those however.

Let me know. I am curious as others said they have had luck. The two I had didnt have bolt binding issues but bolt stop issues. The bolt literally could not be pushed forward if the mag wasn’t hanging completely free.

Not sure what I did right or wrong, but my Magpul’s run really good in my 700, I did I file a little material off the back of the feedlips, so that when a mag gets pushed straight up my bolt will still close..(my feedramp is notched btw) That being said I mainly run Accurate mags in mine..

Yes. If you put on light to moderate pressure it works like normal. If you press as hard as you can, there is some rubbing but will still allow for cycling. I'm not sure how much that would differ from my metal MDT mag, but guessing not much to be honest I guess I could try tonight. I've yet to shoot in any scenario where I'm putting anything more than minimal pressure on my magazine.

Rubbing isn’t a problem. That would be fine and somewhat normal. I wonder why mine was so far off. I sold my magpul mags. I may go to my old man’s house and grab his to take pictures to post.

Just wanted to give an update on this post.... had some time to mess around a little with the gun smith. After observation, we noticed that while the first round fed fine, as it was being pushed by the bolt it ever so slightly “drug” the following round forward which resulted in it catching the bullet tip under the feed ramp. We then tried several metal mags without a single feed issue. So in short.... metal mags for the 6.5 from here on! Thanks for all the advice group!

What exact mags do you run in 22-250. What would be a good mag for a tikka in a bravo chassis?

So I have the same issues with MDT metal mags (binderless) I do a custom load though and have a GLR action, from what I can tell is there is just not enough play with the action and chassis to allow you to line up straight. I did switch to a binder mag and have had a little better Success with grading but it does happen from time to time again.
