Anyone got an effective method to change the main spring on a Rem 700 firing pin, without buying the Firing Pin Tool. ?? Figured someone has a method that might be effective and save me a few bucks....
Get a small piece of steel pipe about the diameter of the part of the firing pin that makes contact with the bolt and stops its forward movement. Cut it so that its approximately 3/4" long. Slip it over the front of the firing pin- screw the firing pin down into the bolt until the firing pin cross pin protrudes and bang it with 3/16" punch and you can disassemble the assembly change out the spring........
