I have a Rem 700 SPS, which is the short tactical with a 20" barrel. This s a fun play gun...so I made only a few minor changes to it including a Bell&Carlson stock and a Timney Trigger. Eventually it will get the full treatment or truing, re-barreling, DBM, and better stock. I am probably a year out before ATF clears my accessory so no use in rushing the project. But for now it is a fun plinker.
Here is the problem - for being as heavy a gun coupled with as light of a caliber (.223) the gun literally jumps off the bench. It is a sight to see from the side while someone shoots. No matter how much down pressure you put on the bipod the front end jumps like a bucking horse. This muzzle jump is distinctly different than my other guns, which includes a similar Rem 700 SPS (20" barrel) in .308. I was thinking about adding a muzzle break to offset this behavior. Any suggestions/recommendations?
Thanks,
Edward
