Rem.700 SPS stock cheek piece riddance?

Has anybody ever tried to grind down the cheek piece off of a Rem.700 SPS stock? Was wondering if the stock was solid enough to grind down or hollow. I'm a southpaw shooting right handed rifles & when I have an ammo holder on my stock it looks all jacked up from sitting on the angle.

It's most likely hollow. I almost guarantee It.
