Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

Looks good so far. For a budget build I wouldn't spend 90-100 bucks on a bolt knob. Thats ammo/reloading comp money. Or better yet, use that towards the RAD brake you were looking at (I have one, its very effective). But hey, its your dough, spend as you wish.

The purpose of my "budget" was to show what $1500 could get you, not because I only have $1500 to spend. This build will end up costing well over $1500 by the time I add a DBM and a suppressor.

The Rad Rapid Brake is out-of-stock right now. I'll probably grab one when they are back in-stock.

Still trying to decide which Phoenix Customs Bolt Knob I want. Leaning toward the Three Ring Varminter.

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

Nice build so far. I have the 700 AAC and love it. I have a McMillan A1-3 stock, Harris 6-9 bipod, Seekins 20 MOA base, Seekins rings, AAC Brake ( for the 762SD ), Bushnell Elite 3200 3.5x21x40AO Mil scope. Currently the rifle is out at William Roscoe's having a seekins bottom metal installed, bolt knob work, action bedding, and cut, crown, re-thread the barrel and time the brake. I have a Timney 510 trigger waiting for when it gets home. I am in the group buy for the Bushnell HDMR G2 scope.

Will post some pics when it gets home.

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

im going to be pissed if you build my rifle for $1500.

ive got the same Rifle, scope, rings, base, bipod, and a similarly priced stock and i destroyed a $1500 budget...

Its all about shopping my friend. I got a killer price on the scope, which helped.

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

I finally received a set of Seekins 30mm Low Rings today. In short, they are awesome, very high quality rings, as expected. I'll post some pics as soon as my bolt get back from Precision Custom Rifles. I'm having them install a 3-Ringed Varminter Bolt Knob, perform their Shroud Modification, Reinforcement, and Cerakote the entire bolt. For anyone interested, PCR is having a group buy on Bolt Knob installs right now. The ad is in the Group Buy section, but basically they are doing the Bolt Knobs for $65 including Cerakote & Return Shipping. Killer Buy, but you have to act quickly to get in on it.

Great! Be sure to post some photos of your build.

I'm hoping to receive my bolt back today from PCR. If so, I'll post some updated pics.

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

Those of you running the Seekins 20moa base are you using the base with 6-48 or 8-40 screws? Also is the HS Precision PST012 a true drop in or do you have to mess around with it?
Thanks.

6-48 screws. The PST012 is truly a drop-in installation. You can bed it if you desire, but it's not required.

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

Yep, I love mine too. Granted it is a work in process still. SWFA 20x scope, Burris xtream rings, weaver base ( to upgrade soon), and sling. Best group so far is a 3 shot at 100 yards that was 1''. Needless to say a good stock is the first upgrade to be done after deer season is done.

(can is not mine...yet)

Re: Rem 700 SPS Tactical AAC-SD...A Work In Progress

Thanks for the info! Do you think I would have enough clearance to mount a SS 5-20x50 using the Seekins 20 moa base and the low rings or would you recommend mediums? Looking at your lastest pictures it looks like I would be good to go I believe.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure I have seen a picture of that setup before. If I remember correctly, it was tight but fits.
