Everyone use many different smiths here for Remington's because there's so many very good ones. Trying to say that there's no one smith that's the only good one that everyone goes to. I let those guys respond to your inquries.
I had Mark with Spartan Precision Rifles do a barrel cut and re-thread job on my 700 SPS over a year ago, he is a great guy to deal with and does outstanding work.

I drink Long Rifles koolaid. Literally, I go several times weekly to the shop and raid Chad's fridge. Honestly though, very knowledgeable and capable crew looking to do right by the customer.

Well since you are in MI, you might think about Magna-Port. I always try to go local when I can so I don't have to dick with shipping. Beyond that, anyone on Bender's list are great (except TR.net)
