Rem SA LTR or Mcmillan hunter edge or other

Putting together a light weight short barrel bolt gun for close critters. Looking for input from those who own an HS LTR stock, Mcmillan hunter edge, or other light weight stock. Finished rifle is going to be 223 or 300 blk 16" with Badger M4 alloy. Looking for lightest stock but still comfortable and well made.

I've used both for <200 yard deer & groundhogs with 20" barreled rifles.

If your scope rides low enough the LTR handle is awesome. I find I want another 1/2 of comb, but it could just be my short neck and blockhead.

I also have a Remington Hunter McMillan(which I think might be a Sako design), love the palmswell, grip and foreend. It's a decent prone/bipod stock but could use a little more comb for me.
I think most of the hunter style stocks were hewn with irons in mind, at least that's how my eye lines up with them.

You planning on a can?
Both stocks with my SWR Omega are wayyyy nose heavy.
Lop 4" off and YMMV.

This is my Remington 700 chambered in 300 Blackout, 16" heavy barrel threaded on the end. The stock is a HS precision stock, not the LTR but close, the LTR stock is 2" shorter than this one (I have a LTR stock for a future build) and this weighs in as you see it at 7.5lbs

This has gotta be one of my most comfortable rifles, the short barrel is a PERFECT balance to this stock although my comb height is perfect for me. I would build this one again if I sold it for some odd reason.

I have both the LTR and a McMillan HTG with std fill. The LTR is shorter, has a bedding block, and is a little wider in the forearm. The HTG is a tad lighter, thinner up front and not bedded. The HTG handles and shoulders just like a sporter rifle, great fit for shooting offhand. Both of my rifles are less than 10 lbs, with a 16" bbl and a lighter scope you may get close to 9lbs.

In short, my choice for a heavy bbl hunter is the McMillan.

Here is my LTR in an A1-3 standard fil. I did knock an inch off the barrel when I had it threaded for a can so it is now 19".
The bare stock weighs 32oz, and the whole rifle as shown weighs 9lbs 7oz. It is a pretty handy rig even with that pig of a scope on it. I like the A1-3 and the higher comb it affords. Fits my fat head.
The LTR stock not so much.
An edge in this stock or the HTG pattern will weigh 24-25oz.

Hey JDGray and RHutch what twist rate are your barrels? Mine is 1:10, but I've send more of the 1:12. Love mine even though its the Tupperware stock. It shoots too good to change it. Maybe later.

RHutch: did the A1-3 stock come with the hinge plate relief? The website says its blind. Just wondering. I like that stock from specs and appearances.
