I have a remington 700 .260. It has a simmons pro 50 I have had for years, and cant afford to put a nikon on it right now. I have to push my head up pretty far to where its uncomfortable to see with black ring. Would Picatinny rail help. I have standard bases with weaver quad lock rings. Needs some info please!!!!

Why not loosen up your rings and slide it rearward until ideal?

Also, when setting eye relief, consider what clothing you'll be wearing (in terms of bulk) and what position you'll be shooting from as well.

I believe your question for putting a picatanny rail was to raise the scope to help eye relief. however i do not think that would help. the rail itself might give you more freedom. if you currently have 2 piece based for rings you are infinitely limited on where they go. with the rail you might be able to set the rings themselves rearward therefore allowing you to get closer for adequate eye relief and full sight.
