So there is no shotgun section, which made searching for this difficult and this seems to be the "catch all" of the gun sections.

I'm looking for anyone with experience with the Remington 1100 Tac4. I'm thinking about picking one of these babies up, but of course internet research is a little vague. All articles seem to be the same, just the manufacturer and gun make swapped out for whichever gun they are "reviewing".

Thanks for the input/replies.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

Its an 1100. 1100s aren't the new whiz-bang shotguns, but they work well. Keep a few o-rings and an extra little spring on hand and it will run like a top. I wouldn't pay the same for one as I would for an FN, Benelli, or Winchester, but I would rather have an 1100 than a Mossberg semi.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

I'm going to be getting one for about $650 NIB, 1/3 the price of a Benelli M4, so I'm not spending much on it. I'm going to be using it as a starter shotgun for my first foray into 3-gun plus use it for home defense while my 870 is out getting repaired/upgraded/cerakoted.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

A Benelli M4 isn't even remotely competitive for any form of competition, so that isn't a valid comparison. A 5 shot shotgun would be useless in competition, and extending the magazine is most definitely illegal (I've covered this repeatedly).

Mine also wouldn't run worth a shit with any kind of birdshot, even heavier field loads, so it was as worthless for anything besides shooting slugs and buck.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

I don't follow your posts so I wouldn't have seen what you've written before. I simply was using the M4 as a price comparison for another "tactical" type shotgun.

Also, can you point me in the direction as to why extending the mag tube on an M4 is illegal? You got me curious on that one. Pretty much everything is legal in Vermont except suppressors. Hell I don't even need a permit to carry either concealed OR open.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

I have an 1100 CM, the previous version of the Tac 4. It has run smoothly in 3 gun matches. I change the o-rings every couple matches for cheap insurance. Only thing it won't run is the cheapo Walmart Winchester ammo, but nothing else seems to either. Will be putting it up for sale in the next couple days. Moving to Open and need a different shotty.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

Wow, ok. So I didn't see anything in particular but it all started to blur anyway.

So what would be the difference between extending the mag or any other shotgun? I've bought the extensions for my 870 why would a Benelli M4 be any different?

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

I'm a pretty avid 3gunner and have run a Rem 1100 for 2 seasons now. The Tac 4 and 1100 Competition Master IIRC are nearly identical guns. They both have the same loading gate. In 3gun there are two critical aspects for a shotgun 1. It goes bang and cycles the load you are shooting 2. you can load it very FAST

The shotgun portion of 3gun is ALL about the reloads because a vast majority of the targets are stationary. If you've never seen this video Rob is among the best at the shotgun game:

The point is if you're already going to spend $650 do yourself a favor and spend the $900-$1000 and get a FNH SPL Mk I. It's a better suited shotgun to the 3gun game. Especially for reloading when compared to the Remington's.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

My 1100 has trouble cycling lighter field loads. I use them for the majority of my shooting (cheap ammo) so it's kind of a big deal for me to be able to cycle them. I still love Remington firearms but probably wouldn't buy another 1100 again. YMMV.

Re: Remington 1100 Tac4

Yeah I figured something like that might happen. I use those loads in my 870.

I still haven't gotten this yet. I decided on getting a brand new 870 in ATACS camo instead. I'm still gonna get a semi-auto at some point though
