Hey guys, recently bought a 700P barreled action and it came with an "upgraded" 40x trigger. I havent installed the action, I cant find a T4A in coyote tan anywhere so I havent gotten to shoot it yet but should I order a Timney or is this trigger pretty good?

I've dry fired it but it's hard to get an accurate assessment when you cant make a proper grip. Seems to break really clean, maybe a tad heavy but it's adjustable. Im just curious if any of the remington guys will know if it's a solid trigger or not.

I changed mine out to Timney . They seem to work very well . Remington trigger was ok , but a tad heavy . Timney lock the trigger on safe and allow the bolt to be removed while on safe . Better for me .

The 40X is probably the best of the mass-produced Remington triggers. So I would say it qualifies as a "solid" one.

There's plenty of information about them and about how to improve them all over the internet

FWIW I had the Remington 40X, if you are tight on money, it would be something you could save a couple of bills on. But remember EVERY TIME REMINGTON RECALLS SOMETHING ITS THAT GODDAMN TRIGGER. Make sure it wasn’t one of the ones that had the recall on it, you wouldn’t want it to fire when you weren’t ready

Bullshit. The 40X trigger was never the subject of any recall.

I'm no Remington lover, but I least I try to get my shit straight before I say something.

Actually asshat yes it was, I own one, it was recalled I’ve got the fucking paperwork to prove it. God damn keyboard commander

The Walker trigger "recall" was a voluntary action in response to a shitload of lawsuits from people who most likely finger fucked their rifles and shot themselves. There was nothing mandatory about it and I don't even think Remington ever admitted fault.

The funny thing is that the trigger that was to replace the Walker/40X (the XMark Pro) ended up being the subject of a mandatory recall.

I have a Remington XR100 that has the 40X trigger, and it’s been good to me for the last 10 years or so that I’ve had the rifle. I have it adjusted down as light as it will go and it “feels” pretty consistent, though I’ve never measured it with a gauge or anything.

Thanks JG, thats what I was hoping to hear. I think i'm going to just give it a chance and see how it does.

Well post it up. I have never heard of any recall on the 40x.

I sold my 40x triggers and replaced them with a timney and a trigger tech. The 40x is defiantly the best of the factory remington triggers.

I was under the impression the walker trigger was the only trigger recalled, interesting...ill have to look into this

Yes, do your research first hand. Legal documents are public, and most of the primary sources related to Remington's legal problems with triggers is just an internet search away.

Ive used the old walker, 40x, m24 and xmark series triggers. The 40x is the only one I don't feel the need to change followed closely by a tuned walker. Best i could do my 40x trigger is 2.5lbs but its very crisp. Id shoot it and if the pull weight isnt as low as you like then switch it.

Thanks functional, appreciate the advice. That sounds about like what im going to do, I was just hoping to find out if it was solid before I bedded the action so I didn't have to take it apart and put a new trigger in.

They are pretty bomb proof triggers. Have a couple factory, and a couple tuned ones. They break real nice, but all the ones I have cannot adjust any lighter than 2-1/2 lbs.

Thanks Alpine, I'm an AR guy so I'm not too worried about it being heavy, just more so a nice crisp break so it sounds like ill be good to go with this trigger.
