Purchased a new 5R 300WM in the tactical line for a hunting rifle. Put 35 rounds throught with every combination I could come up with from 168-210 grain bullets and various powders. The best group I could get was just under 3 inches at 100 yards. I even went and purchased factory Hornady 180 grain soft points and they were just under 4 inches. I have swapped bases from NF to Badger and swapped scopes which were both NF. The extractor broke after the 3rd shot but I expected that and have a Sako extractor ready to be installed. This is the second factory rifle I have purchased in the last 3 years and both have had major issues from the factory. I even had a Timney trigger installed just to see if any difference was noticed. I changed the seat depth from on the lands to 40 off the lands in .005 increments. I sent the first rifle back to Remington and it was joke. They sent it back with no trouble found and the extractor still broken!!lol
The second issue is; no matter what load I use the brass sticks in the chamber. I loaded down to a 190 Berger with 72 grains of H1000 and the brass still sticks. Using new brass or once fired makes no difference. I know there are guys having good luck with these but I have seen nothing good from the quality of Remington in the past 2 rifles. I sent the rifle to a gunsmith today to see if we can figure out what's going on. Has anyone ran into a issue like this? I'm assuming it's a crown or barrel issue but what a PITA!
