I just bought a Remington 6br on an older action that is smooth as butter on a HS precision stock. This rifle was sent to Hart and had a fat short barrel installed and the action trued up by them. The rifle has under 200 rounds and i bought it to use for varmint hunting. I would like to use it as a repeater and was wondering if anyone out their makes any bottom metal with detachable mags that will feed this cartridge reliable that could be installed on this stock. Any help from someone who has maybe done this would be great. Thanks....DAN....

I've seen a few people run them in AI mags using a Badger or similar bottom metal. I just built a repeater 6br, but am just running it from the internal mag box

    Dan, how have you been?

I've done a done of trial and error with the 6BR case in DBM. While there are a few folks who have got a 308 AI mag to work, and a few more that have got a 223 AI mag to work, the hands down best approach to a 6BR repeater is one of two options:

    1. Using 223 Rem bottom metal and trimming down a 308 follower.
    2. Using Elisio's 6BR mag and tube gun chassis.

I will tell you this from my experience trying this and destroying several AI mags:
--If you decide to try a 308 mag, my best results were when the rounds were forward in the mag, not rearward. If you put a spacer in the mag, I would first try the spacer in the rear of the mag.
--If you try a 223 mag, you will have to modify the lips. Each mag would have to be tuned to the rifle.

After recently revisiting this conundrum, as the 6BR is my favorite case, I think the way to do it would be with a coned bolt design. I am strongly considering giving it another go with my M2008. But it, and the stock, are setup for AW mags. I would have to figure out how to manipulate the AW mags to feed the 6BR, which would be another whole ball of wax.

If you get it to work, PLEASE PM me. I'd love to have a 6BR DBM repeater. Especially in the M2008.

Thanks guys for your help. I am hoping to keep it the way it is and spend as little as possable to keep the cost down.

</div></div> I have been doing good and hope things are going great for you also. This is 1 sweet rig as it is and have not much in it. I know you like some of the bench rest stuff and today i bought a older Sako varmint single shot in 6ppc with very nice wood stock in the high gloss finish. It is the 491 action and has the Sako base and rings with the inserts, less than 150 rounds, bore guide and a gloss Leupold 6.5x20 EFR fine duplex and target knobs. It has the original box with all and not 1 mark anywhere on the rifle and scope for a 1000.00 bucks. Yea, i almost pissed and shit my pants when i walked away with that deal. The setup is absolutly beautiful and the bluing is remarkable. First Sako and i love it. Take care and it was good to here from you.

    Re: Remington 6br repeater Help

I use .223 AI mags that have been opened up with a Dremel on my 6brx and I have 100% reliability. It is really easy just widen each lip a little bid and re round the inside of them to fit. Took me about 30mins of cutting and testing it to get it to work. For 40 buck it is really not that bad to just try.
