Re: remington 700 .308

Used to be you could pick up used 700s for 225.00 but with the new admin they have about dried up. I paid 300.00 for my last two. I try to get the older ones with the riveted extractor as while they still give trouble, the new extractors seem to give more based on armorer reports I have heard. Last one I built was a 700 LA as I had a Choate Varmint stock than needed to be used so I went looking for a LA just to get the stock going and built it in 308 as a poor mans M24.
Don't pass up on the chance of getting a Mod 70 Winchester. In my experience they have a better feed reliability in rapid fire.
I am sitting on a 7/08 700 ADL and a Mod 70 Win long action. The Model 70 will get attention quicker than the Remmy due to the above reasons. I would gladly trade the 7/08 for a Mod 70 if you run up on a 70 first hit me with a PM and maybe we can deal. I had to take it in on a trade from a friend who wanted a Sendero 7Mag I had I wanted to find a home for.
You might consider going ahead and getting yourself a custom chamber reamer so you can put in a nice tight chamber and dedicate new brass to avoid any undue stress on extractor. That way when you set the barrel back or rebarrel you can keep using your brass.
If you start with LC Match brass and tight chamber and you care for it you should get in excess of 100 reloads if you don't try to load it as a magnum.
