I know there has been a TON of questions on here about this rifle but I just wanted to share my experiences and put up a few photos. This is a very capable out of the box rifle with the right load. I was experimenting for months and months working with SMK's (155's, 168's, and 175's) trying to develop a good load. I used mostly H4895 and Varget and just never got one I was happy with and was consistent.
I was down at Nosler recently and was talking to a very helpful guy who works there about my rifle and finding a load for it. The conversation goes like this:
Him: What length is your barrel?
Me: 20"
Him: What twist?
Me: 1:10
Him: What brass?
Me: Nosler
Him: Nosler 168 custom comp, 45.0 varget, CCI BR2, 2.810 OAL.
Me: Well that's pretty damn specific, you own one of these rifles?
Him: No, but just try it and let me know how it goes
So I go home load up some and head out to the range the next weekend. Low and behold I shoot the best groups I've ever shot at 100, 200, and 300. I haven't had a chance to go out to the 600yrd at my range but I will and I'll report back. If anyone has this rifle I would urge you to give this load a shot. Here's some groups (these are both 5 shot groups):
.6538" - .308 = .3458" group. I can pretty consistently shoot groups about this size if I do my part.
I've got lots more like this but you get the idea. I hope this helps anyone out who has one of these rifles. Give this load a shot and let me know how it works out for you. My rifle is pretty damn stock, no major changes.
