Re: Remington 700 SPS Tactical ammo suggestions
A couple of things, I have one and LOVE it! But my particular rifle will not shoot the 175 smk's or the 178 amax's as well as it will the 168 smk's and amax's. Secondly, I came up with a trick to freefloat the barrel a little more. Just loosen the allen head screws on the floor plate, then tighten the rear screw (closest to butt stock) tight. After that you screw the front allen head screw just tight enough to make it secure to the rifle. I don't care what people say about the stock, it works. with a 30 mm tube and a bipod I can still slide a dollar bill all the way down the rifle. When you reload I would go with the smks', amax's or bergers. All of mine are 168's. I guess it's just the 1:12 twist that makes all of these 1/2 to 3/4 moa loads. I shoot all lapua brass and rem 9 1/2 lrp with varget so here are my loads that are incredible out of a 580$ gun. 45.9 grains, 168 berger vld's, 2.960 coal. 46 grains, 168 smk's, 2.850 coal. 44.8 grains, 168 amax, 2.850 coal. Have fun with your new rifle! P.s. HSM makes the 168 vld's you can find them in midway usa, same as the amax's and smk's. Good Luck!
