Remington 700 Twist Rate

Re: Remington 700 Twist Rate

Remington changed the twist rate on the 223 700 PSS a few years ago from 1:12 to 1:9 in order to maximize the ballistic stability of heavier bullets or so they say. The barrel on the newer rifles should be marked 1:9.

Re: Remington 700 Twist Rate

If you have the rifle you can use a cleaning rod and a tight patch....piece of tape on the rod at the muzzel once the rod and patch have been inserted....then pull or push the rod untill the tape has made a full revolution and measure how much rod went in/out for that revoloution.

if it is not in your possecion sorry for the useless info!!
