Gunsmithing Remington 700 x mark trigger springs?

I purchased some remington 700 triggers off the hide and they did not come with the springs that sits below the sear or strap. The original gunsmith (who is not on here) sent replacement springs that the triggers were missing. My only issues is, they look different from what my other x mark triggers have in them.

The spring out of my rifle is in the middle. The others were what was sent for my triggers.

Here, my original spring out of one of my rifles is on the far right and the 4 replacements are all left of it.

There looks to be an obvious difference in size and being a trigger part I do not want to take any chances. Can anyone tell me if these springs are correct/will work or where can i get the correct replacement springs?

I found this diagram and pointed out which spring I am speaking of that is missing and being replaced. Hope this helps those who are looking at this with their head tilted lol

I could use a few of those springs too if you find a source. I've launched a couple into the carpet while doing trigger swaps.

That was the reason I purchased these triggers because i had a couple that had missing parts. I got these in with no trigger springs so I was in the same boat. Hopefully a good gunsmith will come forward with old springs or a source to get new ones!

I am not opposed to using these other springs if someone can tell me if they would be safe. I installed one in a trigger and it is a bit taller by 2 coils and seems to be stiffer. would a spring in this location being stiffer hender the safety? Can anyone explain the function. I dont think it would increase the pull weight would it? wrong spring for that.

replaced two x-mark pro trigger assemblies and both springs measure approximately 3/8" uncompressed

I took one of my good triggers apart to compare springs. The new ones just didnt seem right to me and I am glad I did. The picture shows the stock compared to the one's received. If the one's received will work I will use them. Just would like to know the facts as to what that spring really does in the assembly. What is it's purpose and what characteristics will change with a stiffer spring. I can even mic them if need be.

Flynlow,

The spring you indicated on the diagram is the sear return spring. They are easy to lose if the trigger is out of the gun and the trigger pins are not replaced to hold the sear in place. It is the least critical as far as spring rate is concerned, it's only to return the sear into place under the firing pin when it is cocked. The firing pin spring will easily over ride this spring.

Go ahead and put any of those springs in place. As long as it pushes the sear up, you're good to go. Make sure the trigger passes it's safety checks.

The only real concern I would have is coil bind before the cocking piece is fully released.

Thanks guys. I ordered 4 new springs from a remington contract gun smith. They told me no to use the springs I have. I thought maybe they just wanted to sell me something but after reading, the stiffer spring I think may slow firing pin down and slow down lock up. Is this correct or am I finding wrong info. I cant get mad about the situation because I am getting SCHOOLED on triggers.
