Question for you guys. I'm selling a Remington 700PSS .308 that I purchased in 1993. 24" bbl, only 50 rounds fired. What's it worth?
The reason I'm asking is that I listed it locally yesterday and I've got 6 inquiries already! and I think I'm not asking enough.

I'm not listing it for sale on the forum. Just making sure you all know I'm not trying to drum up a sale or something fishy.

Thanks.

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

Really.
I listed it for 925 and the phone hasn't stopped ringing. I'm just trying to figure out which prospective buyer to sell it to.
And the bipod, scope, hard case, ammo comes with.

The first one that shows up with cash.

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

I have a PSS from that era (mine is a '89). I posted mine for $1,000 last year and got a few bites. However, I took it off the market before it sold. It is now my "M40" clone. The PSS's of that era with their Parkerized finish and their 24-inch barrels are great donors M40 clones IMO.

Mine is a great shooter as well...one of the most accurate rifles that I own.

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

From the sound of things here, I paid too much, but I have 3 - all of which were purchased here from the for sale section. I paid $750 for all three. I bought a fourth (again, here on the forum) and sold it a couple of months later (again, here on the forum) for that very same $750. My take, $750. Then agaiin, all mine were newer models with the 26" barrel, so I don't know that my experience is applicable... That said, I think that if you listed it at $50 thinking that's what you needed out of it and someone came along with $50 - that is what it should sell for. Even if you "think" you listed it for too little.... well, you get the idea here. However, if you don't sell yours for the $925, give them my contact info and I'll hook 'em up

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

I just bought a 26" barrell PSS in .308 for $900, but it's been trued, match rechambered, recrowned, action bedded, and trigger job done. However I certainly didn't know you could get them for $799 new anywhere. I have a friend that will prolly be looking this "Bauchman's" up soon. I assume this is a store? That's pretty damn cheap for the 5R too!

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

I tried to work a deal with a fellow who wanted to sell his PSS barreled action in a different HS stock. IIRC both action and stock were '80s vintage. He wanted $850. My reasoning was that the trigger was better than the new x-marks, and I preferred the 24" barrel...but not worth over $750.

But heck, if "the bipod, scope, hard case, ammo comes with," who knows?

By the way, I looked up Bauchman's and found: http://www.dallasguns.com/index.asp?type=37

Their PSS is $999.

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

I haven't checked the date of manufacture with Remington on mine, but it's an older 24" model that had about 500 rounds down the tube when I bought it FTF at a local gunshow back in 2005. I paid $625 for it. If you can find some sucker to pay $900+ for it, and you're fine with it, then what are you waiting for?

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

Sold!
For $875 with scope, sling, bipod, locking case, laser bore sighter, cleaning kit and ammo. Not a bad deal for a l/n rifle.

Thanks for the input all.

Re: Remington 700PSS Value?

Is Bauchmans really doing the $799 now? LAst time they said the $799 was a typo and you had to pay $899....that was my Shotgun news dealer just forgot the name.

$799 is a screamin deal.......just the actions are $450 or close to if you can find them.......the barrel is good too. I don't understand why so many guys are starting their builds with the varmint models with the cheapo stocks........not to mention those traingle shaped things. I have purchased new PSS or even LTR's and for builds and sold the new barrel and HS stock for $200 each and each went out in about a day.

I always wondered what guys thought when they had a "custom shop" that claim to be big believers in the R5 or PSS factory action AND barrel.....they put on a bolt knob and bed it in a A5 and sell their $2800 custom rifle? What the heck? But they stay in business.
