Howdy all,

I'm picking up an as new model 788 in .223 tomorrow evening. Any one out there have any experience loading for this model in this caliber? I imagine it will have a 1 in 12 to 1 in 14 twist barrel, so the 40-55 grain bullets will be the name of the game here. Any pet loads to try as a starter would be appreciated.

Thanks to you all that are in harms way for this country.

Re: Remington 788

My .223 load that I run in all my .223s is AA2460, Rem 9 1/2, and 50gr whatever's handy. Minute of praire dog from here to there, 2460 meters through the Dillon powder measure well, and I run the load in everything from my AR pistol, to the Bushy Varminter, and moly in my high-valume rigs, with good results.

YMMV

Favorite load since early 80's. Accurate in every .223 I've ever shot it in. 26.5 gr W748, WW primer, WW cases topped with Hornady 53 gr Match flat base HP. Loaded out as long as possible be still fit an AR magazine.
Have a blast with your new rifle.
