I'm about to begin my first build and came across Remington Actions on Brownells, $549 for a blued 300 Win Mag. That seems like a high price for an action being that it's more than 50% of the cost of unused 5r. Is there and difference in quality of these actions making them ideal for a custom build? Or would I be just as well off buying a 5R and slowly adding to it? Thanks for any help!

They will be the same quality as the 5R, though IIRC the 5R is stainless vs chrome moly on the blued actions. You can usually find a used action or donor gun in the $350 range, and go off of that and save a few bucks.
