Gunsmithing Remington M24 crown - finish chip

So I just got back from the range with my new(not first owner but supposedly never fired) M24 rifle and was getting ready to clean it when I noticed a chip out of the finish on the edge of the crown. Is this common? Is it an issue? I'm 90% sure that it wasn't there when I began shooting today and the muzzle did not get bumped into anything as I'm extremely careful with it. Should I just leave it alone and see how it performs next time at the range? Touch it up with some paint?

My last group of the day was unexpectedly large but being new to the rifle and the fact that these were the first reloads that I've made for it, it probably has nothing to do with the paint chip and more to do with my shooting.

That paint chip won’t do anything to the mechanical accuracy of the rifle. Chips there are not uncommon

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure as I know the crown is a very sensitive area of precision rifles like this.

It will chip more when you shoot it, and it's normal.

I can't tell for sure what I'm looking at.
Flat crown with a thread protector?
Otherwise it's the oddest looking recessed target crown I've ever seen.

Does that angle help? I'm new to the M24 so I agree it looks odd compared to my other military rifles.

Like the others said its normal, not to many coatings if any that can withstand the heat and blast of gas when the bullet exits the muzzle.

Does look "normal" from that angle, close-ups were a bit deceptive.
