A Big THANK YOU-

To everyone on here who threw out their knowledge for when I was having issues with my SPS tactical setup.

Before I was shooting some 1" groups but I was having some 2-3" and even 4" groups at 100 yards. The rifle sits in a Bell & Carlson Medalist and is running with a SS10x42 and has the Leupold mounts.

With the input from you guys and the help of a friend- a Marine Scout Sniper- I was able to tighten things down. After today I had holes inside 1" and got down to under 1/2 MOA.

What I did-
1. Switched to Federal GMM
2. Installed a cheek rest (sock+duct tape

)
3. Made a sand-sock for the rear instead of my sand-bag
4. LEVELED the scope PERFECTLY. (I was not able to do this with ANY mechanical levels )
5. Had a trained shooter verify
6. Kept rounds out of the sun for consistency (I was clueless about this)

Headspacing was not the issue. It passed the test.

Overall the FGMM improved things more than ANYTHING else. It blew my mind how much better it performed in my rifle than anything else. Even the black-hills match never got better than 1".

With the FGMM ALL groups were inside 1".

I couldn't ask for anything better. My buddy was able to shoot a group that was under .5 moa- so anything outside that is likely my lack of shooting proficiency.

Thanks a ton guys!
You saved me some serious $ bills
Phil

Re: Remington SPS tactical FOLLOW-UP

Glad to see you got things figured out. With my stock remington stock I went with a Karsten cheek rest which helped out a ton. You might try that next. The outcome like this is usually why the advice is first to spend $$ on training a decent gear then custom actions, best glass, etc.

^^^I agree. pics would be awesome. Of your rifle and the target results. Glad to hear that you're shotting sub MOA. Keep it up!! A lot of good people here with good information.

Re: Remington SPS tactical FOLLOW-UP

thats great, I just conducted some groups with an unbedded A5 and the stock Hogue stock and it would appear that the Hogue stock did a better job. I think this was because that stock has somewhat of a plastic bedding block that the A5 does not because it is not bedded. Glad your rifle shoots good ....
