just picked up one of these from cabelas in 25-06 for $649. awesome value when you factor in the bell and carlson stock. def gonna need a timney trigger. factory is breaking at 4-4.5lbs. ordered a krg bolt lift, now decided on an optic. going back and fourth between a 6-24x50 vortex pst or 6-24x50 sightron sIII. Ive had the vortex and liked it, also have the vortex 1-4 for the ar im building. i hear the sightron has better glass and this will be used for hunting white tail deer and coyotes so thats important. anyhow just wanted to let people know about these. i think there a pretty darn good deal.

yeah its the heavy varmint barrel. not sure on the weight. i will have to get back to you on that.

what calibers is this offered in? I bought the Savage 12 LRP, wanting the 6.5 Creedmoor mostly. Nice looking rifle for sure! Congrats
their website doesn't list the calibers yet. theirs a video on youtube and the guy says they run from 25-06 up to 300 rem ultra mag. the cabelas i was at only had the 25-06, 300 win mag and the 300 ultra mag.
The rifle is also offered in 30-06 (sku 84166), but the guy at my local Cabelas yesterday said they only carry the above listed calibers. I tend to think he was mistaken (using the old 700 SPS Long Range offerings) as others have reported seeing the 700 Long Range M40 in their local Cabelas recently.
It is nose-heavy...that's what a 26" Rem Varmint barrel will get you in that stock. For the $649 sale price, its a hell of a deal.

What happened to them talking about bringing back the .260 at shot show? Was that just a rumor or has anybody heard anything else about it?
I've heard that they will be moving forward with releasing a .260 SPS model. I would imagine it will come this summer or later if it is true.
I know I could rebarrel an action, but this seems like good way to get into the 6.5 bullets.
Big Green is releasing the SPS in 260 (24" sporter) and a VTR variant. Not as a Tactical, AAC-SD, SPS Varmint or this 700 Long Range (which is LA only).

Then that is stupid. They have good intentions sometimes, but their logic tends to be lacking on the back-end.
That wouldn't surprise me at all. It would be like Tikka changing there .223 to a 10 twist.

awesome man! hows she shooting? looks good. im having a hard time deciding on the optic. ive had the pst 6-24x50 not to long ago, i liked it but when i was deer hunting right before sun set it was hard to see. how you liking the sightron?
I dont have the 25-06, rather the 7mm rem mag and it is not at all like my 308's... I can reach the lands with ease with two bullets types I have on hand, 168 SMK's and 150 SGK's.
I am in the process of purchasing one in 7RM. Guick question: If, down the road, I wanted to change to 7 SAUM using the same platform, could I run it in the long action and what changes would I need to make other than the barrel?

that was my thought exactly. i didnt plan on spending that much on glass (ever in my life) but i looked around and didnt see a used one for that, good thing taxes just came in! had money to burn.
he emailed me and gave me a little extra for being a hide member. i couldnt be happier with cameralandny! its hard to come up with that kinda money making 11.25 an hour and having two kids , gf who works part time. figured this would be my only time to be able to get one so i pounced on it.
Son of a bitch. I just got around to measuring some bullets with my stoney point 30-06 modified case. A speer 125 TNT doesn't even seat into the neck. A 175 matchking is barely in the neck, and can be wiggled out by hand. Looks like everything is going to get jumped a mile.
Why does Remington refuse to offer the 6.5CM? I can understand the old standbys like the 30-06 and 300WM but 25-06 and 300RUM over the 6.5 bores? Makes no damn sense.
I've been a Rem. fan for years. Over the years alot of what they have done (prior to "easy access" net most was rumor and hearsay--NOW it's ALL true, just ck. the web and ask ) hasn't made alot of sense. My 1st. Rem was a Sportsman 78 in 30-06 ,the 78 was a cheaped up 700ADL. They discontinued it.Why didn't they just keep it,rename it ,whatever and use as an entry level 700? So what it has some stamped metal parts and a plain wood stock w/ a plastic(HARD) buttplate. I did a full length bedding job,to the end of stock ,shows my & it's age. It still shoots good.It was one of my original handloading test beds. Thinking about it ,it's a wonder I didn't blow it & me all to hell ! Paul

my first as well. I still have it. Swapped out the stock with a 700 ADL from a 7RM after I upgrade the stock on it.
What sort of loads are you planning on using? I've shot a savage 25-06 for a long time and its a versatile caliber for sure but I find myself wanting two rifles instead, one smaller, think 223 or 204, and one larger or at least with better bullet selection like 6mm or 6.5mm, .30.
That said 85gr NBT is hellacious on woodchucks and 115 Nosler partitions do a real number on deer. I've not tried the Berger 115's or ever tried to shoot 1000yd with it either though. Shoot me a PM if you want my hunting loads though.
Lots of comments on Remington's long range model - but precious little info on how well they shoot out of the box. Are they "Sendero" accurate, or more like the SPS "grab bag" where you never know what you are going to get?
I should be able to sight in the rifle sunday if its not real windy. Ill post my results. All I have right now are factory loads. Havent made the jump into reloading yet. Hopefully will be able to soon!

i heard that the B&C stock is inferior to the H&S stock used on the sendero....
and that it (the B&C) can actually touch the barrel in certain conditions & ruin accuracy????????

Im really curious about accuracy also. I handled one with tracking point on it the other day in Cabelas. Seemed like a solid rifle but still considering a 5R or Police in 300 win mag. If this turns out to be a tack driver it would save me some money.

I can’t answer this for the OP but in my 7mm mag model including the one I pulled anticipating recoil (still getting used to magnum recoil and shooting from a table that is 6 inches to short) still came in the mid .7’s CTC with the remaining four well under .5 CTC at 100y. I am still waiting on conditions to improve so I can stretch its legs to a grand.

Who ever told you B&C stocks are inferior to HS Precision is full of BS. In my experience with both, B&C are just as good and IMO better as the shell is noticeably thicker. This becomes apparent when you start opening up barrel channels for larger contoured custom barrels and drilling the stocks for flush cups. When I am not using Manners or McMillan, B&C is my next choice.
I have one of these in stock at the store where I work part time in Louisville, KY. It is chambered in 30-06. I wonder what brought about the marketing of this product. I would like to fit match irons to one and sling up with it in NRA LR.

That looks like a good start! I too like B&C stocks. They are a huge upgrade from factory Tupperware.
Just got my Long Range paid for and the FFL sent. Im ready to get it on the range. First stop is getting a new bolt handle and a threaded muzzle.
