During the ammo shortage days I needed to buy something that I could get ammo for and shoot.
I couldnt get 300wm ammo so I searched and found a really good deal on my first 308. When I got the rifle home I realized that the barrel was indexed incorrectly. I sent it back to Remington and by the time they repaired the bedding and the barrel It was 7 months later. By that time the ammo shortage was over and I continued to shoot the 300wm. I finally pulled out the remmy TT and took it out for a spin. The cold border shot is always .7mills high and .3 mills right (clean or dirty bore). After the rifle is warmed up it will handle 1/2moa if you shoot slowly and keep the barrel warm.
My intention with the target tactical was that if the odd triangle barrel didn't work for me I would spin a new barrel on it and move on and be happy.
My dilemma:
I am not happy with the Bottom metal, the BC stock is heavy (cheek riser adjustment blocks the bolt from being removed) the triangle barrel heats up after 10 rounds and shots increase from 1/2 moa to just under 2 moa.

Should I start revamping the rifle with a replacement manners stock and bottom metal and a new barrel or should I sell it and move on?
Oh yeah - it has a trigger recall on it.

Honedtly, that is a lot of money to have into a donor action. If you are gonna replace the barrel and stock, then just go head and sell the whole thing and get a custom build. Especially since you have ammo for your other rifle now.

Rifles were scarce then and In the SF Bay Area the prices are pretty high. I picked this up for 1800 out the door (8.75 tax rate) with a 5r barrel and a Harris bipod with 50 rounds of ammo.

Your suggestion is to NOT throw good money after bad and move on?
I was thinking about getting a new barrel and a "true job" soon and then pick up a new stock later in the year....
