Currently I have factory remington 700 5R in 300 win mag 26in barrel. It's sitting in an aics chassis with Timney flat trigger. To close the action on a round sometimes it's easy, other times you have to hammer fist the bolt handle. I'm at the point that I'm not comfortable shooting it (despite how accurate it is) and haven't in over six months.
I'm planning on sending it to a gunsmith to have the action inspected and trued. My question is should I consider any other calibers and should I go Palma style or straight taper barrel?
