Gunsmithing removed AK underfolder stock, need help!!

I removed the wire underfolder on my Wifes ak and put on some tapco furniture There are now two large round holes in the rear sides of the receiver.. I am kinda stumped on what to do to cover these holes and make it look reasonably normal.. Any ideas??

Removed a UF and put Tapco on ? Leave the holes there to remind you of your Mistake !

get on the interstate, go really fast and open the window..................place your boo-boo outside and twist it in the wind and see if it makes any cool sounds

AK receivers are not interchangable. Things might work, but there is gonna be evidence of the change. Side folder, under folder, and fixed stock receivers have holes in different places.

You might check with Tapco. They sold the stock, so they might have something to put in the holes, i.e. something that might snap in. Maybe some of the AK sites have a solution.

You should've done better and just welded the stock in the open position.

Seriously, did you try any of the removable length of pull extenders and various strap-on cheek risers to improve the fit, or did you do it to abide with some stupid law?

I've heard of a wire side folder, and an underfolder, but not a wire underfolder. And why would you remove the foling stock? Just buy a wood stock AK, because more guns is always better.

Ok my wife didn't like the wire underfolder because it was uncomfortable for her to shoot.. The Tapco collapsing buttstock and forend fits great and looks great.. I don't believe I made a mistake Simply because of the holes left.The function of the rifle has not been effected, it is a minor problem that I can solve just wanted some feedback..

I was just curious, what a man does with his (or his wifes) gun is his choice. Wasn't trying to crucify you for it. I agree that the underfolders are incredibly uncomfortable to shoot, I just like being able to make the gun more compact by folding the stock.

But it sounds like you would need a new reciever if you didn't like the holes, I've never heard of or seen plugs for them.

I have asked a metallurgist and he said that I can tig weld the steel pieces I have made for that purpose.. The holes are in the rear most part of the receiver and it will not harm the receiver or damage any heat treat..I can finish off the pieces to look like they belong there, bead blast and blue the receiver and it will look like new... Thanks for all your input...
