I am working on a 6mm CM build utilizing a JP HP bolt. I don't expect the barrel to last particularly long and am wondering if I should replace the bolt whenever I replace the barrel? I usually do for .223 ARs but in this case the bolt costs considerably more and the barrel life between replacement is considerably less.

What barrel setup do you plan to run?
OAL of barrel and gas length?

Think with a +2 system and a properly adjusted gas block with standard loads that bolt should last a long time. JP had those bolts lasting 10x longer than a military spec bolt in testing. I am sure they get wear though. Worth asking JP their experiences of how many rounds before they see enough wear to affect head space or other components. They have also been one of the more honest companies when it comes to preformance of their products.

No need to replace the bolt. I run JP HP bolts on my 6.5cm AR setup and have been through 2 barrels so far with zero issues or abnormal wear. I would get a new JP barrel extension if your having a smith spin you up a new custom barrel. My smith prefers not to pull and reuse extensions.
