I searched for an answer to this but came up empty handed.

I have a Nitrex TR II 4-20x50, extra fine reticle with a tiny dot. I do not know the official name of the reticle. As I understood when I purchased it new, the Nitrex brand was a line Weaver created to run parallel to its existing lines and that the TR II was a rebranded Super Slam. I don't know if that's true, but it was made in Japan. I really like it.

Anyway, the reticle was useful for benchrest, but I would like to use the scope for hunting and would like to change it to a duplex or mildot.

I found a lady who changes reticles for Weavers, but she had never heard of Nitrex. She said she might could do it, but I don't know if letting her try would risk permanent damage.

Any ideas?

I believe Weaver warranty work is now covered by Bushnell. They may be able to help. I've checked there web site and found no mention of the Weaver products. You will probably have to call.

Thanks for the tips about Bushnell guys. I thought of the same thing last year and called Bushnell and told them what I had. They said they couldn't change that reticle.

I hate it too. That scope has LOW glass in it. It's really nice. Just has a reticle that's useful only on paper, and at that, it's 20x. Most benchrest shooters want more mag than that.

Unfortunately we're unable to do reticle exchanges on any Weaver optics (Nitrex included). Those were discontinued before Weaver repair services moved in with us at Bushnell and the parts & tooling required didn't make the journey. I'm unsure if at any point previous to the move the Nitrex models could have had the reticles exchanged.
