So I'm still a few years out and have thought about getting a motor home , crusing the Country and competing shooting . Thought about retiring to Poland , Ausria and maybe a few others . What are you guys thinking .

    Hi,

    Annual retirement budget/allowance?

Poland is nice. I have been thinking of opening satellite office there.

Austria..I found too expensive for what it is.

    Split Croatia is really nice.

Kiev Ukraine but gets too cold for me.

Kremlin is nice but too cold for me.

Malta is really nice if you like your women on the short side.

Whatever you put on your short list, make sure they allow for easy tax free setup..even if you have to open a "shell" company in one of their foreign trade zones.

    Sincerely,
    Theis

25 months left........may do it early if the retirement account keeps doing what it has been.......just want to get out of the city........the less populated states are that for a reason........cold, hot........whatever............ I'll find someplace...............

    @THEIS

    Where in Poland?

Love that country. Just not a few of it’s folks who came here.....
My ex was born and raised in Warsaw. She is conservative, so we let her stay.......
Great city. So much amazing history. I could go again just for the museums.

I love classical music and the Chopin museum is not to be missed!

    Free men live in TEXAS!!!!

    Hi,

That might be the funniest thing I have seen on www today.....

Check your property tax percentages and let me know how much goes to schools in order to fund football stadiums, not education itself.
How many miles of roads within Texas require you to pay for the privilege of riding on them..even though your tax dollars went to building them...yea yea I know "They were not built with Tax dollars"....BS

    Sincerely,
    Theis

    @THEIS
    Kinda figured.
I have close friends and acquaintances who have done a lot of work with some of the same folks and companies there that I would imagine you might do business with.
Love the Poles as a people. Hard working and zero slack for any BS.
Between the meats, piwa, and all the hot asses (dupa if you dont speak), that place is awesome.
And the pierogi. Oh the pierogi.
And try some Pan Tadeucz vodka if you imbibe. Ice cold. That and Zubruwka are a couple favs. And of course Chopin..... ?

I'm planning to be a snowbird. Lower Alabama primary 9 months out of year. 3 months in a small cabin or camper in far Western NC...somewhere around Murphy...Franklin, sylva maybe.

People keep pouring into the French Broad valley and surrounding areas, to hell with these Yankee fuckers driving up taxes and electing communists.

I've got my 30 in now, cracked the nut in February, but I need new knees and another neck surgery before I drop off my salary and decent health insurance.

must be a simple man , I am just looking forward to saving enough to be able to get to some of the places in some of the states I have seen pics of in this forum like blm land and try some elr shooting or what ever constitutes that with what ever ability I have . Some ammo , gass , and a gun , maybe a dog in a truck and a cooler full of beer oh how happy I would be .

Geez, guys. It seems after reading everyone's opinions there is no place to retire anymore, which sucks because that's what keeps me going (even though it's still many years away)

! Like most I was hoping to move to some freedom-loving, Constitution-abiding place west of the Mississippi.

It sounds like we're going to have to come up with our own planned community.

Either that or let's take over Belize

Fuck Texas, nothing but blow hard can’t cunts live there.
Hey easy easy with that shit, we ain’t all bad. The bad ones are all the commies coming out of California and relocating here, and illegals bleeding the system dry. THEIS is right about the taxes and schools wasting money on giant football stadiums instead of education and maintaining their facilities. Yes toll roads are everywhere. It’s ridiculous. As far as gun laws go, they seem pretty easy going, I can buy whatever I want, Public land to shoot? Idk where you would go for that, maybe there is some out west, you’ve got to make friends with the farmers/ranchers and they let you shoot on their property. I love Texas, but it’s changing quickly and is not the state it once was.

Yeah , Pa aint off the list . Farmers from Morgan Town and west (3/4 of the State ) will let you shoot groundhogs. Out by Pitssburgh i believe they still pay by the head for Yotes . Pa. has a hand full of long distance ranges or if you buy the right property you have 1 to 200 hundred yards of your own to launch on . My buddy got a place out by Lewiston . Ten acres , only ten houses on the mountain . He got a two story house , barn , two car garage and ten acres for what he sold his 1200 sqaure foot rancher on a quarter acre in suburbia for . Taxes are $400 a year as opposed to five grand . No congestion , nearest neighbor is 400 yards away . Only downside is rattle snakes and black bear . They are both prolific . He was telling me that when he was in town one day at Dunkin Doughnuts and he strikes up conversation with a guy . Turns out the guy is a real estate developer checking the area out . PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING AS SARCASM . I told him you shoulda offered to ahow him the sights drove em deep inta bearville , shot and left him for the bears . Again sarcasm.really . I mean what sane individual would advocate the termination of someone who would willfully destroy paradise .

    The world's getting to small.

Idaho and Montana are beautiful and remote but freeze your ass off.

Arizona, NM are warm but short on water and green stuff.

SE Colorado looks pretty good, reasonable winters, reasonable prices on land, fairly dry climate, and not far from the NRA Whittington Center. Not too far from good medical care in the Springs or Denver. Damn, I cant believe I put that last in there. Getting old...

SE Oklahoma is not bad but its....Oklahoma... ;).

With a fairly short time frame keep a close eye on your allocation and whether or not the market is able to penetrate the previous all time high. If unable there could be a drop here in your time frame. Consider lightening up or eliminating overseas stuff in your allocation and beware of some of the bond funds after this rally. Trying to get the last dollar out of a rally when you have a short time frame can be fraught with danger.
    Just sayin........

Texas is as controlling as some shitty Yankee states, they are a very high taxed state, shit tons of gun laws,, I am growing to hate this goddam state, property taxes as high as new jersey ferkrisakes.

Texas is a shitty retirement state, simple as that..

Texas is a bit split as the invasion of SJWs from California and the waves of Illegal immigrants start taking over all the big cities.
The big cities are high taxes and high control becoming more so every day thanks to being californicated.

Out in the rural areas things are a fair bit different.

For example, for a small 1500 sqft house in the suburbs, I'm being stuck with $4200 this year in taxes, most to the school district that was not happy with their 70 million dollar football stadium and is not trying to get all the renters and apartment dwellers to vote yes on a HALF BILLION dollar bond package for "equality access to technology".... AKA all the freeloader illegals in the apartments and such get 'free' iPads each year or some such BS paid for by home owners like me.

But my Father lives out in the middle of nowhere, for his house, barns, shop, buildings and 5 acres, it's $400 a year in total taxes and the school district doesn't have enough money to get greedy.

One thing I've found in Texas over the past 20 years is that the more money the government gets, the more desperate and aggressive it becomes in trying to get more. Back when property prices were low and especially throughout the 2008 bust cycle, property tax increases were very modest, and somewhat reasonable and went down sometimes & if you protested, you had a good chance of winning.

Then once the property boom & development wave picked up and the county and cities were rolling in more money than they ever had in history, they started getting super aggressive and greedy. For the past 5 years they have raised my property taxes almost to the penny by the maximum allowable amount under state law. Then stuck us with bonds for extra..

Each of the years recently I have protested my property taxes they progressively got worse and worse, especially the females on the review boards who are just government shills.

On my last protest, the female government agent pretty much told me straight that sure the law says we have to value your property based on the condition it is currently in and what you could sell it for in a neutral market with neither the buyer or seller being motivated... BUT, we don't care, we need the money, we are going to tax you on what your house could be worth at maximum if you did every possible expensive upgrade to it because you should do that so we can have more money. If you don't like it, tough, see us in court.

This is why it's so important to keep the government small and starved for cash to keep it in check. Once it gets a taste of the big money, there is never enough to satisfy it and the greed and demands of the government grows exponentially.

At least however in Texas we don't have income tax yet.... Of course the Communists / Democrats want us to get that so we can provide more "equality" services and such to all the illegals they are pouring in to vote for them. I guess the Californians can't wait to turn Texas into the mess they just fled from.
