Claremore, ok
I have a Surgeon 591 rifle at LAPR getting fitted for a short .308 barrel. The plan is to run a switch barrel set up with a 24in .260 and Wnroscoe is finishing up a 18in .308 barrel. When shooting supressed the 24 is a long setup the 18 incher will help for mobility and make for a littel lighter weight rig.

When I swap the barrels I will have to take the scope off with the surgeon action wrench what are some good options on return to zero scope rings or mounts. My NF rides in a set of low TPS rings now. I would think they would get me close if the install was the same every time with a good wernch. Do I need to spend the cash on a Larue, Sphur or ADM set up? Can the mounts be had in a "low" 30mm setup?

thanks for the help.

Re: Return to zero rings and mounts.

You might want to look at NF unimount. I use a Larue for my AR with fair reproducibility, within 0.25 moa at 100 yds...clarification of without barrel swap.

Re: Return to zero rings and mounts.

and a barrel swap returns to zero within the specs of a RTZ mount, really?

Actually consistent torque on any rings will RTZ as close as any QD's I've seen.

I have used Larue mounts for a few years, have swapped back and forth between Eotechs and S&B short dots with good results. They maintain zero well.

I have confirmed my zero when possible, and they have been close enough for government work. Definitely still holds the 5 ring on a transtar no problem, and usually dead on. Some of our guys have had issues, but I personally have not (operator error more than likely). Properly torqued up with the right tention on the levers and they are money.

Re: Return to zero rings and mounts.

I use the Bobro 30mm Extended relief QD mount on my Noveske N6 and it is money when it comes to return to zero. I also really like the lack of tools that are provided with it (Larue) to make adjustments so it fits your rail, this thing actually fits any rail with no adjustments needed. Not to knock Larue but the Bobro mount is one beautiful piece of engineering.
