Help,

Top Predator? Anybody who has a Centerpoint scope?

My owners manual says, "The windage and elevation adjustment knobs have a unique, resetting screw design. A hex wrench is provided with the scope for adjustment". Well, ok the wrench is provided... but there is no spot on the knobs for the hex wrench to fit into...

It also came with a tiny screwdriver, and there IS a tiny screw with a flat tip slot in it located on the side of the knobs. Does anybody know if this is how you loosen the turrets to rezero on this scope? The screwdriver doesn't exactly fit the screw, but it could possibly be made to work.

There are also two round inserts on top of the knobs, but it looks like it would take a small spanner wrench to loosen those. I am confused - so far it seems the "owners manual" is the only thing not to like about this scope - translated from the original Chinese I'm sure.

I found nothing useful on the 'net regarding this.

HELP !!!

You realize that I am working off a dinosaur of a laptop my son gave me when he went to Afghanistan the first time back in 2005

Ok, here you can see the small slotted screw on both turrets between the #5 and #6. There is also a small slotted screw in the threads for the scope caps - beneath the 6 on the left, and the 3 on the right. There is another on each turret directly opposite these.

This one shows another view, where you can see the top of the turret with the two "disks" that would take a small spanner wrench to turn.

I'm sorry, I can't bring myself to post a picture of a hex wrench and a screwdriver... surely you can use your imagination and figure out what they look like.

The screwdriver is a jewelers style, very small - and the hex wrench, or allen wrench, is.. well, and allen wrench - same size as fit the rings that came with the scope (which I did not use). The screwdriver WILL fit the screw located in the threaded area below the turret itself, but doesn't quite work in the screw on the turret itself.

They ain't like my Leupolds... WTH?

Sounds like a good time to call centerpoint customer service for some technical info on procedure to reset the scopes turrets to zero.

the new design sucks, i don't know why they "improved" it. they are probably using the old directions /user manual, but have included the tools for the new design.

i would have to think they should have also included a special tool like a spanner wrench kind of thing to do those odd looking bolts on the top of the turret.

this is their site: http://centerpoint.crosman.com/ perhaps they have forgotten to put a tool in packaging that fits those funny looking bolts. their number is 1-866-726-1122

looks like there are a couple things that screwdriver will fit into, either the turret (between the five and six) and some kind of funky hole in the threads for the cap.

too bad they came in blister packs, i'd stop by wally world and check it out.

the old style turrets were the shit, simple and easy, resettable with 1 screw and able to be "locked" with that lock nut with only finger pressure.

sorry i could help you out more, with having the scope w/ the new turrets in hand, i can't figure out the machanical poke and hope of getting them reset.

from the pictures, it almost looks as if the tops of the turrets pop off at some point.

was actually kind of let down when i seen these new models in the store, and those "tactical ridges" they added is kinda silly.

i only hope the performance, pepeatability, and optical clrarity is still the same as the older model. it's hard to find that in a 300.00 scope, not to mention in a under 100.00 one.

looks like many of their models on the website is going to that moronic "built in sunshade pointy thing at the top of the objective" nonsense.

keep it flat and screw a tube in.

Re: Rezeroing target knobs on Centerpoint scope...

i had one of those scopes till i ditched it for a falcon optic. you need to loosen the little flathead screws and rotate the sleeve that the numbers are on. do not mess with the odd looking bolts on top of the turrets, i dont know why they went with this style of turret but i like the older style better.so losen the 3 flathead screws, rotate sleeve till your back to zero the tighten the screws and your done.

Re: Rezeroing target knobs on Centerpoint scope...

looks like they went the way of the "usual cheap scope" turret - 3 flathead screws w/ screw driver equals F'd up threads, stripped slots, and loose turrets.

i've hope leapers don't go the same way, they are coming out with a new version of their accushot scopes in june. for my CZ i was wanting something "fancier" like a nikon, weaver or millet, but figured i've had good experiences with the centerpoint, leapers is basically the same.

i've noticed too that Barska, Firefield, and others have adpted the older styled centerpoint turrets.

after looking ata whole bunch of scopes, i think somewhere in china there is 1 manufacturer of shells and turrets, and all these low dollar scope companies mix and match components, then stamp their name on them.
