I’ve been looking for a mount or rings that will work with the dovetail built into the KRG SOTIC action. A challenging proposition, since it seems the market at large works off 1913 rails. My searches keep turning up different variations of the Beretta factory three ring combo, and the Optilock system...neither of which really appeals, honestly.

I know KRG includes a 20 MOA base, and I could just slap anyone’s rings on it...but, that seems a touch...inelegant? Why use two pieces when one will do sort of thing.

In my defense, I just got over a stomach bug and ended up in an enclosed space with paint fumes this morning...could use a hand if you’ve got it to give.

Thanks. The Spuhr is about the only one I’d seen - and is what’s in KRG’s web photos. The new hunting mounts seem more my speed...not that the ISMS isn’t very cool kit. They all seem to have more than enough height...the 4001 series at 1.18 looks like over kill, height wise, and it’s the lower of the two. The separate rings sit at 23mm versus 30mm...and .92 inches might be too tight with a 50mm objective lens. I’m not sure I need the accessory mount...not sure what I’d put up there, as yet.

I suppose I’ll need to wait to get the rifle and optic together and do some measuring before I order - I really don’t want the hassle of returns/exchanges if I dork this up.

Leupold and Warne both make rings that clamp onto the Tikka/Sako dovetail which is exactly the same regardless of model within those two brands.

What diameter tube and object will you be using? The 4701 mount I’m using is 35 mm/1.378” height. It’s a great with a 34mm scope with 56mm objective.

I wish I had known about the Spuhr direct mount when I was setting up my Tikka. One thing to keep in mind based on the reading I've done, there appears to be ejection issues if you put the direct mount on an older T3 receiver, ejection port has to be opened up. I guess not so much an issue on the newer T3X receivers. No first hand experience, just what I've read here in searches.

It’s a 50mm objective and a 34mm tube. Assuming ring height is given to the centerline, the objective is the critical factor. I’ll have a measurement on that when it shows. I expect around 54mm OD, housing included. I thus expect that anything 27mm in height will clear without issue, probably anything down to 24 or 25. I need to measure the dovetail height above the highest point of interference to verify that, of course. That also assumes that the ring height is measured from the dovetail and not the lowest point on the ring.

Having no experience with Spuhr mounts, I’m not sure exactly how they’re measured. However, the rough reckoning above is why 30mm height seems excessive and 34mm gratuitous overkill. It’s probably GtoG for a 56mm objective which should sit right around 60mm OD.

If you are not looking for an angled set, the Sportsmatch rings are excellent. We have four pair that we have conducted drop tests for zero retention and POI shifts. They are very durable, with no loss of zero or shifts through heinous abuse. They mount directly to the rail and include a recoil pin.

This ^^^^

I have both T-3 and T-3X actions, and the T-3 does have issues if the scope is mounted low, and the errector housing knobs are over the ejection port. T-3x is no problem.

Looking further, it really seems like the only direct mounts with integrated slope are Spuhr ISMS. There are several 0 MOA options, of course. At the end of the day, it seems like maybe the choice is just accept the inevitable and buy a Spuhr ISMS with some slope to it or buy whatever I want and stick it on the included 20 MOA rail.

Maybe I can ask my family in Europe to ship it to me - if the shipping is less than 70 bucks (and it should be considerably less), I’d come out ahead versus ordering from Mile High ;-).
