Sidearms & Scatterguns RIA VR80

Hey King,
Thanks for your input and I guess I'm still really looking forward to getting this new gun, and see if it's what some are bragging about

If you want a self defense shotgun, DON"T EVER RELY ON A BOX MAG FED SHOTGUN! (ANY Brand)

Shotgun shells are not meant to be squeezed sideways and left squished in a box mag.

If you want a fun toy, or to have a 3-gun rig, they are a blast.

I have one I've fully tricked out for 3-gun, and built another for a friend.

Has anyone had or done work to the trigger?? I still haven't picked the gun up from the son yet so was thinking of getting the trigger done before I pick it up from him.
Thanks in advance for the help or comments. Hhardrock

Tooth and Nail or Elfmann, just replace the stock trigger w/ one of those. If you can swap out an AR15 trigger, it's almost the same.
You can't do much with the stock trigger (most are 10-12 lbs) and keep it reliable.

what's not to like about a shotgun that could have a 9 or 19 round mag if they make a 20 or 25round drum mag for it that would be neater .

what the prices look like i don't know wont look my self without thinking I want another gun maybe next week . if you do get one if you would repost how you like it please ? Or more importantly what you don't like if there is anything . good luck and happy shooting .

This is the one my son has and mine when I pick it up will be the same

Has anyone had any luck finding another hand guard for the VR80? I have the black one with the solid block on the bottom so I can’t mount a foregrip or anything under it. Was also wondering if another AR style 12g’s hand guard would fit. Like the citadel 12g or any of the others out there. TIA!

I had an opportunity to play with one that wasn't working properly. (allegedly wouldn't fire 2 consecutive rounds)
They are known for needing some break in time and some seem to have slightly undersized gas ports.

I removed a metal bur from one of the gas ports and fired 2 1/2 boxes of shells through it. (it had already consumed ~3 boxes)
There were ~3 jams on the first box. The last box had one round that didn't quite go into battery and the others functioned fine.
It was fun and I suspect reliability might be ok after a few hundred rounds. I would not however, be confident in it until then.

The frame or trigger guard had a sharp edge that drew blood on the outside base of my trigger finger. I know it was biting me when shooting rapidIy from the hip but I don't remember if it did it under normal circumstances.

I would recommend it for a fun gun but I would stick with a Benelli or older 870 if lives were at stake.
This is of course, based on a sample size of 1. I would assume that with enough time and attention it can be made to work well even if it doesn't right out of the box.
