I'm sure there are many watching the same thing I am, and also in the path..............massive storm west to east in the middle of the country.
I'm just west of the KC metro..........it's 26 deg. and it's been raining for 12 hours............the blizzard watch goes in to effect at 3:00 am.......and runs for 24 hours............predicting....1/2"-3/4" of ice then 7"-14" inches of snow on top of it.
Interstates closed..........Mo. governor ask for National Guard assistance, Ks. governor declares state wide emergency.
Mo. High Patrol says if you are stranded on the highway, expect to be there for hours............
I got food, beer, whiskey, and a generator, and plenty of gas.........................so, I'm.........riding the storm out.........let's hear about everyone else in the path of this storm.........and last but not least...............crank it up..................

Thinking the shit will be North of my AO. You got 3 two most important provisions ….food , beer , whiskey 😉 Hunker down and stay warm.

    24”? Puhleeze….

Well, I know folks down there aren’t used to it. Like here when the temperature gets above 78 in the summer and we are all dying!

So hunker Down and enjoy. Couple of feet of global warming! If you have a flat roof… shovel there first! Unless you are Secret Service. Then your house is gonna pancake!

    Cheers!!

You think thats bad. You should live in the buffalo N.Y. area. We had 70" of snow in 3 days before xmas. Warm up. Lost it all. Green New years. Then it started snow a day later and now we have 30" on the ground. 15 degrees, 45 mph wind. Wind chill -20, Suppossed to get another 2-3 ft in by the end of the week. All lake effect from the great lakes. Makes for great snowmobling!!

meanwhile......behind the facade of this innocent looking bookstore.....

in wisconsin, we are in the middle of our second consecutive winter of next to NO snow and abnormally warmer temperatures. if this is climate change, I WANT MORE!!!!!!

having to stay at home for a full day....maybe two...possibly 3? sounds good to me.

Well, just wait until you’re out mowing the lawn in January. Global warming might not look so attractive.

Speaking of, I should mow the lawn before the cool front hits…

i don't call it "the lawn". i got critters....it's "the pasture". that just means more money in my pocket and less spent of feed!

as far as i am concerned, it can warm up to the point that i can plant an avocado tree or three. wouldn't break my heart one bit.

Sitting at home in AL today, supposed to be in KY going on the Bourbon Trail tours with my brother. We had six distillery tours lined up from yesterday thru Monday. It's been a Bucket List trip for my brother for years. This week I kept looking at the extended forecasts with deep suspicion. No, we never should have planned it in January, and we knew it was likely the Wx wouldn't cooperate. It was supposed to have been in early November, but that got cancelled due to his work schedule changes, and January was our only other window in the foreseeable future. We decided to cancel it on Thursday, as I was supposed to leave here on Friday and head up. It looks like the forecast has deteriorated even further since then, and now includes an official Winter Storm Warning centered right where we were going. Big disappointment, but I'm going to the range today and think about how glad I am not to be in the middle of that.

Center of the "snowmageddon", nothing burger atm.
Was promised foot of snow/global warming.
Haven't seen that, to my recollection, since the 70's.
Think the acid rain fucked up the coming ice age...

Let him be, he played with mercury as a kid.
Over a certain age I suspect most have. I remember my science teacher as a kid breaking out a jar of mercury and pouring some out. It broke up into small balls like silver b.b.s, we had a blast pushing the balls together. The second
they contacted each other the 2 balls would unite into one. Pushed them all around till there was one big blob then scooped back into jar. Now he would probably get arrested.

Yeah I recall those days but trying to blame mercury for both of my IQ points is like eating a bowl of beans and trying to figure out which bean made me fart. 🤷‍♂️

They shut down our schools for a &^%$ing week because some idiot parents found out that there was mercury in the thermostats... and had a giant conniption fit that their kids were getting 'exposed to mercury.' So schools all over the state got shut down and thermostats replaced with 'non-mercury' ones... to keep a bunch of Karens quiet.

This was before they were called Karens. We should have punched them in the face and shipped them back to Connecticut where they belong...

Oh well, hindsight... should have done it to the Hippies, too.

Preach on brother! I'm in Wisc. also. Love the last couple of winters here. There was a time, back when I was still working, I used to be a Sled Head", and use to get really excited when the first flakes would start blowing around. Summer of biking, then wash, wax, winterize, rearrange the shop, move the sleds to the front(back, depending how you look at it). Get the ol' "Itchy Thumb" thing going on and all that, Now...don't do it anymore. Feel sorry for the people that have invested 50-60K into the sport, and can't even put them in/on a trailer and get use out of them. Snow can stay gone for all I care now. Mac

My dad was helping my sister with a science fair project, testing the impact resistance of different home siding. They built a rig to hold the siding and the impact tool that swung downwards from a specific height.

They needed a dense way to weight the impact tool when all of a sudden my old man produced some bottles of mercury from the basement.

They left that bit out of the write up.
