Rifle sling recommendations

I recently got an FTW sling from Rifles Only. Very happy with it. I've sold another couple of my slings since as the FTW suits my purpose better. If you're doing any kind of positional shooting the quick adjustments and bungee work exceptionally well.

If you're carrying the rifle muzzle down across your front it allows you to use the hasty sling method and shoot from offhand, kneeling, sitting, prone etc and transition to each position very quickly with minimal or no sling adjustment.

Haven't tried the RO sling but have been using the HTI sling with really good results. Only comment is the locking slider really holds and I just need to keep working it to allow smoother quick adjustments.

I have a handmade traditional leather riflemans sling that goes on every rifle I walk out the door with. You can't beat the basic design and mine is wider than standard as well as slightly longer eo fit my damn ridiculous L.O.P. issues. I've tried others...keep coming back to the classic!

Are you just wanting something to carry the rifle with, a shooting sling, or a "tactical" sling, such as the single point and double point rigs a lot of guys use on their ARs. You can use carry slings or other slings to aid shooting, but they won't steady you as much as a good shooting sling. My primary experience is with shooting slings. I like the Turner biothane slings for their no-maintenance "weatherproofness". I also like the Tactical Intervention quick cuff rifle sling. Either will help steady you while prone, kneeling or standing. I don't find them as useful for offhand shooting. Other types of slings to other stuff better. I can't speak as to them.

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like I have a bunch of slings to check out. This will be on my .300 win mag, hunting rifle, therefore primarily for carrying through the mountains, but need it to be functional and adjustable, lightweight would be nice too.

This.

I have had Quick cuff, and several others but this one is by far the best. Very versatile. The Rifles Only web site has some videos of their use.

If you want a sling that is very quickly adjustable, check out the one from Viking Tactics. More tactical style than PRS style, but I've used this one forever 3 gunning, and it has never let me down. It is now on my long range CM.

Get a "tactical" sling. Old leather slings dont do it anymore. "Tactical" slings will also help in the accuracy dept. .25" last I heard. Same category as fluted bolts. If it doesnt say "Tactical", it doesnt go on my rifle!

Lol.

+1 on the Viking Tactics sling, especially the wide padded one. I have used it for long periods of time on bolt guns and M4s. I haven't found one that's better. It's comfortable, adjusts easily. Apparently they make a hunting version that is the same concept.

I use Quake Claw slings for all my hunting rifles as most of the time I'm shooting from a stand or a rest of some kind. It's a nice sling for the price and is adjustable and sticks on my shoulder while moving through rough terrain. The only problem I've had is a swivel broke on one sling but I got it replaced. For every tactical long range bolt rifle I have I use the TIS slip cuff quick release sling.

Montana Sling if your talking a hunting rig, nothing better:)

That looks like a nice sling, I might have to try one!

Ordered a Mountain Shooter sling from Triad. I really like it so far. It is very basic, light weigh, strong, has an arm loop to help steady the rifle, and its made in the U.S.

I have the TAB gear sling and love it but I recently saw and got behind the Armageddon sling and it is really nice and on top of that the owner is a badass Veteran and in the shooting industry so it will probably be going on my rifle within the next couple weeks.

Just my .02, but the TIS Quick Cuff is the best "tactical loop sling" I've ever used. It's 1.5" wide so it doesn't dig into your traps / shoulders as you walk. It is money well spent. PS - it's held together for the last 6 years. QUALITY kit.
