Fieldcraft rifle wrap how much is to much?

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

Wrapping just the barrel and having the wrap touch nothing but the barrel? Probably, but minor.

Wrapping the barrel and the wrap touching anything other than the barrel? Yes.

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

That's a good question, I've been wondering the same thing. I bought 4 rolls of ACU/ARPAT and haven't tried it yet. I'll wrap the hell out of it this week and let you know how it shoots next weekend if things cool off a bit around here.

Used to hang GI socks, mosquito netting ect, on M14's, never had issues. That stuff was not as Tacti-cool as todays stuff, but it worked all the same. A good paint job works very well, until you meet someone color blind, then the rags are better. YMMV

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

I have used some "rifle gloves" that I have made myself FOR HUNTING... I could tell no difference in 200 yard POA / POI shift. But I have done NO real research at the range with a good shooting rifle.

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

I've used boot bands and rubber bands to veg up a rifle barrel. The few times that I wrapped it It was on very loose especially where it meets up with the stock.

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

Do not use cloth cammo tape they sale in hunting stores. Went from sub MOA at 100 yards to over one took the tape off and back to sub MOA. +1 on the Kling to hold cut strips of burlap

Re: rifle wrap how much is to much?

I always used the rolled burlap bout 2" wide, and boot band to put natural veg in. As long as you dont wrap the barrel tight to the stock it will have no effect. Done testing on it. Doesnt have any effect as long as its not tight.
