I notice on my phone's Kestrel app, that the "zero range" is shown as m(meters). so, when I send ballistic data to the kestrel itself, the zero range sets itself to 109 yds. I have not found a way to reset m to yds on the phone. I suppose that as long as I set the kestrel unit to the 100 yd zero, all should be good, but I don't like that they don't match. If I forgot to change 109 to 100 in the kestrel, wouldn't all my dope be off? Would all solutions be high? any suggestions please?

Sounds like you got it figured out now. To the other question, yards and meters is just a linear unit of measure. As long as you trued at the correct distances, either yards or meters, nothing will be off as long as your using the correct setting of your preference.

My app settings are yards, but for some reason the zero on a new profile always defaults to 109 yds. I just change it.

Not a huge deal, but is there a way to default to 100?

got it . thx. just got the kestrel. then my phone went down n had to get a new one. the kestrel app came over but no data, so had to start over. the app must have defaulted to meters. forgot about the 'settings' feature. thx again.

Mine does the same thing... It's one of those "just annoying enough to be stupid, but not enough for me to care" issues.

The biggest issue I have with new profiles in Kestrel Ballistic Link is the weird reset that happens when changing things like click value, bullet and speed. It resets other values already entered back to defaults (like the 109yd zero). Annoying as F$&#! And has created more than one head scratching moment on the 1100yard range until I realize the rifle profile didn't save properly.

First world problem though.

The Kestrel and phone app have separate settings for distance units. In the Kestrel go to menu item: System/units/Global and set it to Imperial for yards or Metric for meters. Then in the app go to settings icon and change Distance units to match the Kestrel. If they are different they will pass information using their metric. You may need to got into the profiles to change the Zero Range Units for profiles already affected.
