rimfire Tuner / Harrell

Hey @Jadams, I'll give you some numbers to chew on.

Here's the rifle:

Here's how it shoots:

The barrel is exactly 26" long, and the end of the harrell tuner to the muzzle is 3.553"

I use my own method, which is loosely modeled on the hopewell method. I'm curious how close you find it to the purdy.

Are you using a Harrel's tuner? If so what number are you on?
Thanks!

Glad to see Orkan pull this up so i don't have to dig for it. I have the same setup, yet to get to a range. Just checked my tuner set to his dimensions with 1" extension, looks like 243 or close.

Looks like my chamber search may be over. I just got this test group from Jonathan. 26" Shilen ratchet with Eley Tenex PTG Ultimate EPS Reamer Vudoo action. The chamber has the same specs as the Calfee 2 (.220 no taper) which he says is the one to use with current barrel dimensions. It will be interesting to see how it does with the tuner. I have it set up to start with the number Orkan provided with the Harrell's and 1" weight. I have an assortment of Eley and SK to test with. I have another Shilen with a 1.5 degree leade I chambered since Kevin Nevius recommends this for Lapua on the Rimx that I'll probably let go and use the EPS reamer on my last Shilen to go on the Rimx. I need to do some shooting with it first as well as the GM I have inbound with Eachus chamber.
It's nice to have a gunsmith who takes the time to verify his work and not just machine a blank and send it out.
Finally
After a quick move to TN and realizing it was not going to work, we are back, just north of our last place. Yesterday, I was able to shoot the Vudoo. Basically, I wanted to duplicate Orkan's successful set up, 26" barrel and Harrell's tuner with 1" extension (or weight) and set it to the length he used. I had little time but, basically, using some not so great Eley Contact, the tuner looks like it shrank the groups by about 1/2. , I prefer shooting my Rimx and being able to choose from 3 different barrels. I am going to let the Vudoo go, stick with the Rimx and may even have JElrod do his bolt modification since I have been so happy with his work. The Vudoo shoots great, but I prefer the Rimx action. I also like the fact that my ProX tuner is designed for the shorter barrels I have for the Rimx. It has been an interesting experience and I'm glad I had a chance to try a Vudoo.

This is the 50 yd test target JElrod sent when he finished the barreled action. It is definitely a shooter and I'm sure will find a good home.
