I am sure I'm over thinking this, but while I was trying to decide what rings to go with a thought occurred to me. Most scopes are made of aluminum, rings are made of aluminum, steel, and titanium. Steel and titanium have a different coefficient of expansion than aluminum. Basically aluminum moves like hell when it gets hot steel, and definitely titanium not so much. I'm thinking a titanium, or steel base would be a good thing, but less than optimal for rings for this reason. I know it has been done a zillion times, but it seems to me do the similarity in the reaction to temperature aluminum rings would be optimized to contact the aluminum scope body.

A nerd with too much time,

Just buy a single piece Spuhr mount, than rings and base are made out of one piece of alumi. You get all the canting you want, a built in bubble level and a shitload of options to attach more crap on it than you actually need.
;)

Take care
