Rifle Scopes Ring Height TRG / S&B PM II LP

Folks,

Anyone know what height 34mm rings I need to mount a Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56 PM II LP on a Sako TRG-42 with a Near (or Bandger, Warne) picatinny rail?

I'm trying to figure out what I need to order...

Open to Badger, Seekins, and other decent tactical rings...

The Badger 34mm 1" high rings will be fine
As you can see from the pic below, the NEAR Alphamount is about 1.080" high and there is plenty of clearance. The base is 25MOA and the Alphamount is 20MOA

If you have not put a base on yet NEAR can do a 0 MOA TRG-42 Tri Lug base and put all the slope 45MOA in the Alphamount. The only reason I did not do that was I already had a 25MOA NEAR base for the previous scope ( Nighforce )

That's a NICE mount... I did call Richard Near yesterday and asked him what I should put on there.

I've never have been disappointed with anything I've gotten from them.

(I currently have his break, and an older 25MOA 1 lug rail.)

I didn't know the Alpha Mount has a slope in it... crap. I may just have to use his rings...

On my 42 with same S&B, a Near 25MOA, and Badger #1005-306-14's which are their 1" high.

If you want it as low as possible I belive you can get down to about CC 34mm from top of orignal dovetail.
On this prototype there is 31mm I belive, but it's a 50mm objective and only 25 MOA tilt.

Ok,

Turns out Richard just sent me a 0 MOA Alphamount... I didn't even have to call him back!

Life is good...

So, Near does make a 0 MOA version of the Alphamount!

Woot.

In so far as the height is concerned, I've got a 10MM cheek piece from Terge on the TRG. So I'm sure it'll be perfect...

Here is a full thread of the evulution of the mount.
It's still not in production, but we have made preproduction runs, and it's prdocution will soon start.
Please have a look in this thread and you will se som various verisions and the ideas behind it.

For a TRG I would absolutely prefer TRG dovetail, but for some other guns picatinny is the prefered version

Thanks everyone. I got the scope today (a Premier 5x25-56mm), and installed it on the Near Alphamount.

It was the easiest installation I ever had to work on.

Since the mount is a single piece, all you need to do is find a level surface, then mount the scope in the Alphamount using a scope level.

It's flawless.
